Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth your hand now, and touch all t...

You see then that by works, a man is justified, and not only by faith. In the same way, wasn't Rahab the prostitute also justified by works, in that she received the messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead. James...

However you are just in all that is come on us; for you have dealt truly, but we have done wickedly; neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept your law, nor listened to your commandments and your testimonies with which you did testify against them. For they have not ser...

Satisfaction

  • For he satisfies the longing soul. He fills the hungry soul with good' Psalms 107:9 WEB

There are so many things in this life that promise, or would appear to offer satisfaction, but they all fall far short of truly satisfying you inside. Temporary pleasures offer temporary satisfaction, and often with repercussions.

Buying something new is satisfying, but then you have to pay for it. You can eat a good meal, but soon you will be hungry again. Sex is good by nature, but with the wrong one disastrous, either way you are soon empty again.

You can marry the most wonderful person on earth, but if you live long enough you will be alone again. There is no lasting satisfaction, outside of Jesus.

Jesus can satisfy your deepest innermost need and fill that empty spot where something has been missing, with something that will last for eternity and can never be taken away.

I have found that the closer that I can walk with God, the more satisfying my life is. And when I start to become distanced, I become unhappy. I am astounded by the love that He has for us and how perfect His plans come together in our lives when we make Him a part of it.

God has a plan for each of us. He can fill the empty places in our lives. If we have need of something, He can bring it about. When you get lost in Him, He gives you the desires of your heart. He is better than we can imagine, and if we will only put Him first in our life, the rest will fall into place.

Prayer: Father I thank You for all that You do for me. Fill the empty places in my life and reshape my desires. Teach me to live and walk in Your presence every day. I want more of You in my life today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Happy Christmas week! We are overjoyed to be celebrating the birth of our Savior with our family here at RHM <3 <3 <3! As we celebrate the season, our groups are honoring the Christ in their own special way. The Creation Photographers theme of the week is Christmas, where we can post photos of what Christmas means to us, and memories of the season (you can always post other pics, as well). Celebrate the fun and humor of the advent season with the FAAD group topic: "Advent: Thank God for Bologna and Coke!" and join in the weekly chat session! The Haven of Hope is ministering to people who are dealing with the stress of the holidays with the "Boundaries for the Holidays" topic. It is also a great time to check out our other groups for holiday cooking ideas, Christmas crafts, and more! Much love to all of you!!!

Mark Duell
Mark Duell Amen. You know it is so simple. But for some reason we all get caught up with things that are pleasing to the eye or makes us feel good temporarly. We have gone from being a society that started with the basics of life and DEPENDED on the Lord for our needs to a people that have more than anyone needs and so far away from God. All the THINGS we have have just created more stress and dependancy. Oh Father, help us to live the simple life of being dependant on you and living a peaceful and joyous life in you. Thank you Pastor Todd for the devotional. May you and yours have great Christmas in celebrating the birth of our Savior.

Carol Pady
Carol Pady I have been so sad for days over the tragic loss of my son's co-worker and his best friend.  I had viewed the place on map quest through the street view mode. I  just couldn’t wrap my head around this , how could my loving Abba Father allow this to happen to two young men, best friends, who never married or had children.  Especially right after Matt , the bosses only son had just returned from a two and a half month business trip to New Zealand. My son had flown there three weeks prior and returned back with him. My son was Matt's boss and friend. This happening right before Christmas.  Then I  was looking through my facebook news feed and there was a post of a place that looked almost identical to where they died Boldly written over the image were the words God' s plan will always prevail. Instantly I felt such peace. He reminded me that He doesn’t make mistakes , it happened because it was part of His plan.

Carol Pady
Carol Pady Thank you Tamara. I just got off the phone with Jesse. He said nobody is functioning very well at the office. So many flowers sent it makes it feel more like a funeral home. They left very early again today. Matt's Dad,( the owner and Jesse's boss), isn't going to be back in the office for quite sometime. This puts a lot more responsibility on my son to keep everything together business wise. Jesse is the big chief now as he was second in command.Time heals everything. Just keep my son and all those that loved Matt in your prayers.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield So true! I chose the "sig line" :"A DAY HEMMED IN PRAYER WILL NEVER UNRAVEL" because if I neglect to start my day with prayer, it all goes downhill FAST! It is so important to put God in the center of everything we do. Without Him, I just go through the motions and it shows.

Deleted Member I am so happy to know that when there is an empty feeling inside or sorrow or other things, that Jesus can fill that empty place and you can know that He is right there, walking with me and guiding me, so that I will not have sorrow but joy because He fills all the empty places of our lives and we never ever have to worry about being alone, even when no one is around, in the physical sense, Jesus is always there in the spiritual. Thank you so much for sharing. Because it seems like even during the holiday season, that many people may have lots of family and friends around, but feel so alone, and some that are alone, can feel so happy, because they have Jesus with them, that is what it is all about Jesus is truly the Reason for The Season, He never leaves us alone.
