"Don't be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you." Isaiah 43:1–2 WEB.
It was growing dark, and we had to ride our motorcycles through the swamp to get back home. There was long gray moss hanging from the tall trees, overshadowing the trail. The air was filled with animal sounds and screeching. It all created an eerie place to be at night.
We had passed through here many times before, but there had been a storm with torrential rain this time. We first encountered deep mud, then came to a spot on the trail completely flooded with water. Yet, our home was on the other side, and we had to go through the water to get there.
I started to cross the flooded area and could faintly see the red sandy bottom of the trail. Then the water turned dark, and the front wheel dropped down. Thinking it was just a dip and would surely come back up, I hit the gas. The next thing I knew, I was swimming in fast-running water with tree limbs and debris streaming past me. It was shoulder-deep.
It was scary. The motorcycle was lying on the bottom of the newly formed creek. I had to fish around for it, then drag it out by the handlebars. We removed the spark plug and drained the water from the engine, then pushed it for about half a mile before we got it started again. It had been a rough evening, but we made it home in the end.
Trials can be scary, but God will bring you through them, and you will make it to the other side. There is no testimony without first passing through the test. There is no glory without first living the story. There is no victory without overcoming a challenge.
In the scripture above, they passed through the water, but God got them to the other side. He did this for His servants a few times (Exodus 14:22, Joshua 3:17, 2 Kings 2:8). He also protected others from fire (Daniel 3:27).
So, no matter what you are going through today, the Lord can see you through it. He wants you to overcome, but you will have to put on your gloves and fight the battle. If you simply walk with Him one day at a time, you can beat this thing. We will get to the other side.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that You help me overcome whatever trial I face. I trust in You and know You have my best interest in mind. Please speak to me in a way I understand and help me see Your will clearly. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
