Hezekiah prospered in all his works. However concerning the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart. 2 Chronicles 32:30 WEBWhile attending classes at a school, t...

Now after the death of Moses the servant of Yahweh, Yahweh spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' servant, saying, 'Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go across this Jordan, you, and all these people, to the land which I am giving to them, even to the children of Israel. I have given you...

Fear Not from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about fear, and the importance of pressing on even though we are afraid. When God calls you to do something, often fear is the first guardian that will be sent to stop you from accomplishing it. The Apostle Paul wrote to Timo...

Fingerprints in the Butter

  • Psalm 8:3
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers,
The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained

Ok, how many of you have ever made a cake that you had to butter the pan before putting the batter in it? How many of you have used a paper towel, or even a brush to coat the pan? How many of you have just taken a few of your fingers and just opened the butter dish and took out a hunk and buttered the pan with your fingertips? Have you ever looked at the butter in the dish after you did this or did you just put the cover back on?

Well, the title for this came as I was getting some lunch, opened up the butter dish, and there were my son’s fingerprints in the stick of butter. Three fingerprints where, he had scooped out some to coat the cake pan. I just had to giggle, and then this message began to unfold.

Did you know that these fingerprint patterns are formed on your fingers before you are born, and stay the way they are for your whole life? Nobody else in the world has a pattern like yours. It's unique, it is so GOD! The pattern is the same on all of your fingers, just sized differently. Even if you had an identical twin, his or her fingerprints would be different than yours.

Although we do not always see it, God’s fingerprints are all over our lives. Have you ever stopped to think of the potter and the clay? How he begins with just a lump of clay, no form, or shape, just a blob. Then, with a little water, and a thought in mind, he begins to spin the wheel to reshape this little hunk of clay. His hands, covered with water, covered with clay, and in some spots you can see where this clay has dried. If you look closely enough, you can see the wrinkles in his hand, brought to life by the drying of this clay. You can see the craftsmanship in the potters’ hands, well before you see the finished piece.

    Isaiah 64:8
    Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter;
We are all the work of your hand.

I am sure by now, you have all looked at your body in some way, and wondered why you were built that way. Have you ever looked at a twin, I am 99% sure, there is something to identify the two apart from one another. Maybe it is attitude, maybe it is a smile, or maybe it is the way they carry themselves, but I assure you , a mother can tell the difference between the two. Most of us were born under 10 lbs, a few 11 or 12 lbs (ouch) but most were born small. But as time passes, some get chunky, some grow tall, some stay short, some have large feet, some have a short stature, some have a large nose, some a fat nose, some have brown eyes some green, but all babies are born with blue eyes, humm, how unique indeed. We have been crafted by the Master. When he chose your mother and father, HE knew what you would look like, and He was very pleased to know, that it was He who shaped you in your mother’s womb. If we are not happy with how we look, we change it, if our hair color is unpleasing or full of gray hair, we color it. If we are really unhappy with ourselves, we have a corrective surgery to make us look more attractive. But one thing you can not change is your fingerprints, unless of course your fingers are all burned off. But for the most part, you will still be the original you no matter what features you change, you will be identified when you die by your fingerprints. Yet no matter the change, GOD will always know who you are. He was very pleased with you and saw you formed well before you came into this world.

    Ecclesiastes 11:5
As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.

We cannot see the wind, but we can feel it when it makes its way across our path. We can see it in the trees after a storm. Yet, the wind is untouchable to us, yet, it can touch us. Think with me for a moment, how GOD is like the wind. We can not see him in the visible, but we can feel him, and we can see evidence of HIS presence in our lives if we but take a moment to look. For those of us on this journey a long time, we have had encounters with our GOD, some may be in a vision, some a dream, some through the pages of HIS written word. As we surrender our lives to HIM, He shows us more of HIMSELF. As we lay down our hopes, our dreams, our plans, He reveals to us something more grand. Think with me a moment about your partner, or companion. Did you go out and find him or her, or did you let GOD chose for you? Did you pick out your car, your home or the street you live on or did GOD make the choice for you?

Just like our fingerprints, our lives are very unique if you but let GOD make the decisions for you. It takes some of us a long time to do it God’s way and I am no different. I have been around that mountain more than once in my life, doing things my way. But now, my journey has brought me to a place that I no longer want to do things my way, my way is much harder than God’s way. When I was miserable in my last job, I searched the papers, I went on line and looked, I submitted resume after resume in search of a better place to work. I was a wreck. But it would not be in the paper, or online that GOD would show me where my next job was. I am a stickler to keeping to my schedule, it works for me, and I rarely stray from it. But it would be one day that I would go to the craft store at 10:00 am and run into the Avon lady that sold to the job I was currently on . I did not know her that well, but well enough to know she was a Christian. It would be in a conversation with her that day, that I would ask for prayer for another job, and it would be through her that my current job would come to pass..

The house I currently live in was all GOD! I had done my homework, I looked in the paper, I went on line, I prayed, I stressed, and I was not going to be able to move unless GOD intervened. It would be again, through another conversation, a Christian woman would say to me she was looking for another place for us to live. The first place she mentioned was a two bedroom home, I knew I could handle that, especially when she told me what the rent would be. But after several weeks, that door just did not open. I was again approached by her with another place, but this one was 4 bedrooms. I flat out told her no and did not want to talk about it again. BUT GOD had already worked out the details, HE would bring it up to me again, HE would show me that this was indeed where I was supposed to me, and thus my current residence.

    Psalm 37:7a
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him:
fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way,

Just like our fingerprints, our lives are very unique to GOD. He saw your beginning, HE knows your end. He knows the path HE wanted you take, and HE knows the path you will take. He will not force you to take HIS path; the choice is left up to you. I can assure you, HIS way is much better than yours. The enemy would have you believe otherwise. If the enemy can have you take your own path, then ease of your journey will be much more difficult. Some of those you were supposed to meet, like maybe that life partner, will not be met in that timing. It is way to easy to get sidetracked in this life. WE MUST seek out daily, and stay on the path that GOD himself has set out before you.

All HIS riches and all HIS blessings wait for you on the path HE chose for you. Don’t get me wrong, GOD can change any circumstance around for HIS glory, HE can make bad decisions into good ones, but it will cost you something. Your relationship with the Lord will be hurt by the wrong decisions you make. Although he is quick to forgive you when you humbly come to him, it will take you a while to get back to a right relationship. My last trip around the mountain cost me five years. Five years of broken fellowship with the Lord. HE has long since forgiven me, and I am back on the path, but I often wonder, what it would have been like , and what have I missed because I did not follow the path that GOD had laid out for me.

As the end of this year quickly approaches and New Years resolutions are being made, pause for a few minutes more and think about your relationship with Lord. Nothing is more important, Child of GOD, as is your relationship with HIM. Not your diet, not your exercise program nor is the career path you have chosen.

NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE ON YOUR JOURNEY GOD is waiting for you with open arms. HE still has work for you to do; your choices can be salvaged but only through forgiveness. HE can bring refreshment to your wandering soul if you let HIM.

You have a few days left in this year to think about it. A new year, a fresh start. You are unique to GOD, and HE loves you so much that he made your fingerprints different from mine.

    Joshua 24:15
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

May your day be “BLESSED” in HIS presence, Leslie
