Therefore Jesus answered them, 'Don't murmur among yourselves. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day. John 6:43 WEBI could see from the look on some people's faces that their greatest wish on Earth, was for me to stop telling them abou...

Though I walk in the middle of trouble, you will revive me. You will stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies. Your right hand will save me. Yahweh will fulfill that which concerns me; your loving kindness, Yahweh, endures forever. Don't forsake the works of your own hands. Psalm 138:7 ...

Thank You from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the importance of being thankful. Jesus lived on Earth as our example, and He was so thankful and full of praise. No matter what you have been through, there are still some things that you can be thankful about. An imp...

A New Identity

  • Behold, Yahweh stood above it, and said, 'I am Yahweh, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac. The land whereon you lie, to you will I give it, and to your seed. Your seed will be as the dust of the earth, and you will spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south. In you and in your seed will all the families of the earth be blessed. Behold, I am with you, and will keep you, wherever you go, and will bring you again into this land. For I will not leave you, until I have done that which I have spoken of to you.' Genesis 28:13 WEB

When the Lord gave Jacob this word, he was a young man running for his life. His brother Esau wanted to kill him because Jacob had stolen his birthright. As Jacob lay down to get some rest that night, God told him many things that were to come through a dream.

Jacob was a bit of a rogue. His name means 'He cheats, the supplanter, he undermines, the heel' yet God was not interested in his past, but spoke only of his future. As Jacob lived his life, and spent time wrestling with God, he became a different man. God changed Jacob's name to 'Israel,' meaning 'Who prevails with God' (Gen. 32:28).

Decades later when Jacob returned to that place, he was healthy, wealthy, married, had a dozen children, many servants, a great testimony, and a new name. The Lord fulfilled His promises to Jacob just as He had spoken.

God always sees the potential in us and calls us into our future, even though some of us could use a new identity like Jacob. God is faithful to provide what we need when we put Him first in our lives, even a new identity. We can become better than we are. We do not have to be what we were in the past.

Also the things that the Lord has spoken to your heart, He will fulfill, no matter how impossible or unlikely it appears. Hang on in faith and know that we will see the goodness of God in the land of the living.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You so much for all that You do for me. Mold me, shape me, and help me become the best version of myself. Bring out the best in me. May my family and I all come to know You in a deeper way, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning :)! The highlighted group of the week is Make a Joyful Noise, a group for musicians, singers, songwriters and those who love music. Discuss singing, instruments, equipment, writing, recording, experiences, bands, music and more. Get to know the others at RHM. The only requirement is to love music and making a joyful noise to the Lord. ALSO, the Creation Photographers theme of the week is "Mother Moments", based on Ephesians 6:1-3 and in celebration of Mother''s Day! As always, you are free to post anything else that inspires you, too!

This is so true: "Also the things that the Lord has spoken to your heart, He will fulfill, no matter how impossible or unlikely it appears. Hang on in faith and know that we will see the goodness of God in the land of the living." Praying for those who feel stuck waiting for the time of fulfillment <3! Also, if that is you, and you want some specific prayer from our team, here is our RHM private prayer page: http://www.refreshinghope.org/pages/prayer

Thank God we don't have to live in the past, He wants us to renew our minds daily. Have to stay in His Word to do that.

What I love about the story of Jacob is that he could not mess up the plans God had for him. I so often wonder if I have messed up the plan God has for me, but when I think of Jacob, I realize God's words will not come back to Him void! Father, I give you full control.

Excellent message, Pastor Dion, thank you! Your prayer brought the song "Bend Me Shape Me" by the American Breed to my mind lol. It's a good song and the lyrics of the chourus sound like they would fit. Peace and God Bless!
