Breaking the Power of the devil

  • I need to be careful here, and I am not intending to preach, because the truth is I wrote this more about me than anything else. I hope and pray that it is received as it is intended. May God open your heart, eyes, and ears as you read this and let you see what only you need to see and to block out the things that you are not to see and hear.I pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  In my study Bible, it calls them evil/wicked spirits.

The word of God, the Bible, teaches us that the evil spirits that are talked about in this verse and others are the fallen angels who have been dethroned by the Lord Jesus Christ. Any contact with these fallen angels/wicked spirits, should be done with the full knowledge that Jesus defeated them. Col. 2:15 Having stripped rulers and authorities, He made a show of them publicly, triumphing over them in it. Since Jesus has dethroned them, we can reign over them. TRUE?

    Adam’s Treason

Originally, God made the earth and the fullness thereof. Giving Adam dominion over all the works of his hands. Basically, at that point, Adam was the God of this world we now call Earth, (and I use the term god where you could put commander, general or whatever you feel is appropriate). Adam committed high treason and sold out to satan, and Satan through Adam became the god of this world. In my eyes, Adam did not have the moral right to do this, commit treason, but he had the legal right to do so.

That means that satan has a right to be here and be the god of this world until “Adam’s Lease” runs out. Not a pretty picture eh? Satan had, (pay close attention to the tense of that verb)(hint hint it is PAST TENSE), the right to rule over us until we became new creatures and got into the Body of Christ. We can see this in Colossians 1:12, 13, giving thanks to the Father, who has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.  For He has delivered us from the power of darkness and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son

That is why satan has no right to rule us to dominate us. Yet me as an average Christian has more faith in satan’s authority and power than in God’s. (Just perhaps you might be like me here).

The Bible not only talks about the first man Adam, but also about the second Adam, Jesus Christ, who became our substitute. ! Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, "The first man, Adam, became a living soul," the last Adam was a life-giving Spirit. Here He is called the last Adam and in verse 47, He is called the second man; The first man was out of earth, earthy; the second Man was the Lord from Heaven. All that Jesus did He did for me and for you.

My trouble, and perhaps it is your trouble as well, is that we relegate everything to the future! Most Church people I have talked to believe we will exercise out spiritual authority sometime in the Millennium. My question is if that is so, why does the Bible say satan will be bound during the millennium? There won’t be any need to exercise authority then, because there will be nothing here that will hurt or destroy us.

    Authority now!

It is now when there is something that will hurt and destroy, that we need to have authority. But it seems like many people, myself included, believe we cannot have much of anything now. It is like we feel, satan is running everything down here. I must remember and I am speaking directly to myself now, that although we are in the world, we are not of the world. It is time for me to stand and say, “yes, satan is running a lot of things here on earth, but he is no longer running me!” He is not running the Church. He is not dominating me. I can dominate him. I have the authority over him!

Jesus said “Behold I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over ALL the power of the enemy; and nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing shall by any means hurt you/me. Luke 10:19

QUESTION: Does the Church have less authority today, than it did right after Jesus death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and seating at the Father’s right hand? If it does, then it would have been better for Jesus not to have died. Thank God, BLESS GOD, I have the authority and I need to step out in that authority and to build on the truths of the Bible.

Back in 1994 before I died on the Dentist chair, I had the whole book of Romans memorized. I was a man who thought he knew all things and was able to do all things on my own. I wanted God, but in truth, I felt I did not need him. Today a lot of things came together for me. I pray I can make it all stick this time.

1Co 1:19  For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the understanding of the perceiving ones." After my accident I could not remember so many things, it was all confused. I had thought myself as wise, full of understanding and knowledge. I really did not need God, after all I am the man who lived on the streets from the age of 15 to the age of 18, then I pulled myself back together, I danced for the Queen of England, performed an emergency tracheotomy on a 10 year old boy when I was only 15 years old myself. I designed the most advanced E9-1-1 system in the world. Then, I had nothing, no memories, confusion, and more.

Here is where I had the opportunity to rebuild me, and I did. I rebuilt me right back into who I was before, not as intelligent, not as knowledgeable, but still always fighting to prove myself, to my Father here and my Father in Heaven, and knowing that no matter what I did that I would never measure up to either of them.

But, here I was wrong, you see God is not asking me to be perfect or to try and be perfect, He wants me to step out in faith and to be a Psalm 91 man. He wants my heart.

Psa 91:1  I who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall rest under the shadow of the Almighty.

Psa 91:2  I will say of Jehovah, MY refuge and MY fortress; MY God; in Him I will trust.

Psa 91:3  Surely He will deliver ME from the fowler's trap and from the destroying plague.

Psa 91:4  He shall cover ME with His feathers, and under His wings I shall trust. His truth shall be MY shield, and buckler.

    Psa 91:5  I shall not fear the terror by night; nor because of the arrow that flies by day;

Psa 91:6  nor for the plague that walks in darkness, of the destruction laying waste at noonday.

Psa 91:7  A thousand shall fall at MY side, and ten thousand at MY right hand; it shall not come near ME.

Psa 91:8  Only with MY eyes I shall look and see the reward of the wicked.

Psa 91:9  Because You, O Jehovah, are My refuge; if I have made the Most High MY dwelling-place,

Psa 91:10  no evil shall befall ME, nor shall any plague come near MY dwelling.

Psa 91:11  For He shall give His angels charge over ME, to keep ME in all MY ways.

Psa 91:12  They shall bear ME up in their hands, lest I dash MY foot against a stone.

Psa 91:13  I shall tread on the lion and snake; the young lion and the jackal I shall trample underfoot.

Psa 91:14  Because I have set MY love on him, therefore He will deliver ME; He will set ME on high, because I have known His name.

Psa 91:15  I shall call on him, and He will answer ME; He will be with Me in trouble; He will deliver Me, and honor ME.

Psa 91:16  With long life He will satisfy ME, and show Me His salvation.

(I have taken creative liberty and changed some of the text to make it very personal as I or you read it).

God has granted me many years past what I should have. He has delivered me, and with long life He has blessed me, and shown me His salvation. Perhaps it is time I put a lot more trust in Him than the enemy. Just a thought, and now I will stand down from my soapbox, even though I have so much more to share. Jajaja

Thank you sharing Kim, that was good. We do have authority today through the name of Jesus, well, Christians submitted to God. As I understand it, people that do not know Jesus are UNDER the enemies authority. I can also relate to knowing a lot about God, without really knowing Him. We can strive to earn what He has freely given us. Have a blessed day!  :)

Excellent word, kj, thank you :)! It's amazing how often God's people will spend so much time talking about the power and works of the enemy, till it almost sounds like bragging on him, rather than on the Creator who made us. We are given authority and victory through Jesus, but first we have to know it :). Also yes, we all certainly have our weak moments - I'm sure He chuckles at our antics sometimes, lol ;)

Thank you and so TRUE. I have many times envisioned God just having a great hoot at some of the many things that I have done in my life. Both those times when I have been trying to be so called holy and those times when I have walked my walk without God and suffered humiliation and defeat because of it. There is a great Christian book out there called Men are like waffles and Women are like spaghetti and it tells of my great weakness. I have one waffle compartment called ¨I know nothing¨ and when I am in that compartment I know nothing about nothing and I tend to get careless. I like it when I am in that compartment because I have nothing on my mind, but it also gets me in the most trouble when I am not watching and paying attention.

Have a great day with our Lord. Blessings

Haha, I have not read that book, but I get the topic of how our minds work, compartments vs. interwoven, all things connected :). The title is hilarious, a perfect analogy :)
