Moses said to Yahweh, 'O Lord,* I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.' For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My frame wasn't hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth....

“Quiet” ! My stories are on !

    My stories are on !

    2 Chronicles 24:27
Now concerning his sons, and the greatness of the burdens laid upon him, and the repairing of the house of God, behold, they are written in the story of the book of the kings. And Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.

This is what my son says to me each time he sees me writing at the computer. He throws his voice into a character, and he makes it sound like an old southern woman when he says “QUIET,”MY STORIES ARE ON, as he passes by. I giggle every time, it is just so funny. I have heard it a million times, well, not a million, but many times, sometimes on a daily basis. It was this morning when I went down for a nap that I was plagued with it, being led to use it as a title.

When I was a kid, I would sit and watch Lassie, Cowboy and Indian movies, The Lone Ranger and the like. My mother would come into the room and try to talk with me and I would be so zoned out and into the show I would rarely hear her. Finally she would yell and I would snap out of it and do what ever it was she wanted me to do.

I get like this with these stories; I get so in tuned with them that I am zoned right out. I am very deep in thought and right into the story line. At work it is no different, when I am in deep thought about how to work something out, I do not sit there with a smile on my face, it is usually one of much concentration which gives my expression one of , well, maybe a sadness you could say. I can’t see my face so I don’t really know what others are seeing, but when one says to me “BIG SMILES” I know that I have been in the deep place. Sometimes I am in prayer, and I turn everything around me off, that too, will startle me when someone calls my name.

When I go to prayer on my knees in the quietness of the morning I feel so close to the Lord. As if HE is sitting on the edge of my bed and I am resting my elbows on HIS knees looking to him for guidance and comfort. This is my time to bring my worries and concerns to him. Sometimes the tears just fall when not expected and my heart just oozes with stuff that I need him to take care of. This is that zoned out time, this is between me and the Lord and He has all my attention. No cares of the day have entered into that space, it is quiet, and it is dark. No trains, well maybe a passing one, but no cars, no one mowing the lawn, no one screaming over the fence, no dogs barking no phones ringing.

My very favorite place to envision I am with the Lord is He and I walking down a stretch of beach, palm trees lightly blowing in the breeze, seagulls passing by ,and the little ripples of water rolling on to the sand. I envision we sit down, He first, then I sit between his legs as he wraps his arms around my shoulders. He is just holding me, the strength of His arms lets me know I am safe, and we are enjoying the sights and sounds of such a peaceful place. He has all my cares, all my fears, all my worries and HE brings me great comfort. That is were I want to be all the time!

But that is not in reality!

The reality is, it is hard to get back to that place once the world creeps in.

If you take a moment to look at your life, what is it you see? What is it you want from this life? What is it that you want from your relationship with your God? And how often do you think on these things?

I have not always been the organized type person. But over the years I have nearly perfected all things to work for me, and with me. I have a plan A, and B if needed. I map out my comings and goings, and what is on the way to where I am going and see what I need on the way. Confused? No need to be. If I am going out grocery shopping at Wal-Mart, I first have to pass Hardees, so why not grab a sausage biscuit, the gas station is next, early in the morning there is no backed up lines. Next it is Walgreen’s, open 24 hours a day, perfect timing for me. Of course I would have already looked in the sale paper to see what great buys they had. If nothing is on sale that I need, or I just need my prescriptions, I will go through the drive through on my way. Now onto Wal-Mart, quite times early in the morning. No screaming children, no large crowds, no loud music, my kind of shopping. From there it is onto our local Kroger grocery store for there are several items that are the deal of the day, 10 items for ten dollars. In and out, now we go home.

We have just completed a large circle around the area that I needed to be in. No more stops, just clear sailing home to work on other projects. I make things like this work for me, and I will plan them out before I got out. This makes my trip or trips, less stressful. This even goes for things like writing these story messages, sending out devotionals, Bible reading, prayer time and the like. I make my time work for me. I am never late to do anything. I will most likely be 15 minutes early if you invite me over for dinner. If I am late, you had better come look for me because something will be amiss.

In today’s day and age, with all the worldly things around us it is hard not to get swept up into it. Like a tornado, scooping up everything in its path as it takes a walk down the highway, cutting its way across the fields. Cows, pigs, chickens, barns, cars, boats, houses, and even people get sucked up into this funnel bringing near death and destruction to all. If you have planned so correctly, you would have a sheltered basement, you would know the storm is coming and you would take precautions to get your family to that safe and secure place.

Mondays in my office are like this on most occasions. People have played to hard on the weekend, stayed up to late, drank to much. They have gotten up 30 minutes before they had to be at work, and when they arrive they are miserable. They have no smiles, most are complaining when they get through the door that it is “MONDAY”. Some people are habitually late, I just don’t get that. If you have encountered accidents on your way into work, besides the occasional, then one of two things you need to look at. One, take another way, or two, leave a few minutes early but that would have you up a few minutes earlier to make that happen. Mondays are the day that the copier is breaking down, the computers in the building have all crashed, IT will be in late, and we are almost out of coffee. That would put the entire building over the edge no doubt about it !

Mondays are predictable in my office. For me, I have lots to do, I usually go in 50 minutes early. The paper in the printer is usually holding only 5 sheets and I would have to print off 50 or more invoices, so I fill it. I turn the copier on so it is all warmed up. I gather the invoices from around the building and get them were I need them. I check my email and see what I missed because I was off on Friday afternoon. I look at the who’s out calendar and make notes of that. We may even have a new hire that day, I want to make sure I am ready for them. I usually have heavy filing that day and lots of file folders to make up. I also help out a co-worker who is off on Mondays and Fridays. I put her invoices in a file folder so she can get right to work on them when she comes in on Tuesdays. It is all in the planning. Now I am not saying I do everything in order of what needs to be done, but I am saying I have looked at what I need to do, and have made a plan .

What does all of that have to do with the title of this message you are probably asking right now.
I hope that I have painted this correctly, when I say, your relationship has to be so focused on God that you have to quiet all else around you and zone in on Him. You have to preplan your day to stay close to him. You have to keep a strategy to fight the world as needed. If you have committed your life to the Christian walk, then you need to make that your first priority. No matter where you are you need to carry out your life in such manner. We all make mistakes, we all flounder here and there, we all take a slip, but if we can be prepared, we have won half the battle..

Think about it like a diet, if you go on a diet, how strict do you have to be? You have to preplan everything. Where and when you eat. If you go to this restaurant, what will you have? If you go grocery shopping, what are you going to buy? You intently read the menu and make choices from there.

The Bible is our menu. It has so much food it in .Sometimes it is hard to digest. Like right now I am reading Isaiah. Not because I chose it, but because the Lord led me to it. For me it is dry, there I said it. Prophecies of what was to come is drenched in this book. This is not a romantic book like Solomon, and even that is not all romantic. But God led me to this book so I read a little bit each day. I always mark the date, and have a red pen handy so incase the Lord would say something through that reading, I will be ready to underline it. I also have a chance to read the footnotes which helps me to understand it better. Some chapters are real long, so I may take a few days to read one chapter, but I made a commitment to read it and read it I will. It is very quiet when I am reading. I have already made my lunch; exercised, taken a shower, so I am more than ½ way ready for work. I can relax and enjoy my reading time with the Lord over breakfast. No one bothers me at this time. I am not under stress to get anything done at this time. I can drink in what ever the Lord has for me in these menu pages for me to chew on during the day.

“QUIET” ! My stories are on indeed!

The story is all about the Lord, and HE deserves my undivided attention.

    Psalm 119:105

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

We need a lamp to read the story !

Always my love for you, Leslie

Leslie McLea I am so glad you liked it Dianna. ( I am sorry, I think I have been spelling your name wrong) This storie was written on February 2, 2012. I have them dated back to 2010. When the Lord called me to write, He began giving me a Title, then a scrpiture. Sometimes a story would form while I was putting my makeup on in the mornings before work. I have tried to tie in a picture that relates to the story so that those would read it would remember. Like the visual of the mailman, of course that was the not the mail man in the building I worked in, but it would be my hope, that when you see the physical mail man, you would remember the teachings of the story I wrote. LIke the fingerprints in the butter, remembering God made us each in such a unique way. Or this cat photo , this was so pricless to me, it caputred just what I wanted. This is the title I want to use for my book. Now I know if I use something like this cat photo for the cover, it would attract cat lovers because of the cat, I know I would pick it up because I love cats. I want to open the book with this story as the first.  I have not written in many months as far as stories like these, yet each time I share what is happening, like with the Taxes, it is a story, not necessarly in the form that my older ones are in, yet a story just the same. I miss writing like this, and have been praying about it for a long time, yet, the Lord remains silent on what to do with all these. So I thought I would start to reread them, and begin to post them, so when the door does open, there will be several ready to present.  Writing these stories, brings me into the presence of the Lord, and that is a place i want to be all the time. Thank you for reading them Dianna, I am so glad that they have touched you in some way. Stay tuned there is more coming.
