Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Don't fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel." Pour Out Your Heart

  • After they had eaten and drunk in Shiloh, Hannah rose. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat beside the doorpost of the temple of the LORD. She was deeply distressed and prayed to the LORD and wept bitterly. 1 Samuel 1:911 ESV

Hannah poured out her heart to the Lord. She wanted a child so badly that the rest of her life seemed empty and nothing else really mattered. Her husband loved her and they had a great life, but she was troubled. Nothing but a child could seem to fill the hole in her heart. Though the priest Eli thought that she was drunk and insulted her, the Lord granted her request and she had a son.

It was not a necessity for Hannah to have a son. It was not a matter of life and death. It was something that she deeply wanted. When it is important to you, it is important to God. Of course, that doesn't mean that we will always get everything we want. Because our heavenly Father loves us, He will not grant us things that are harmful us, nor will He work against His own nature or His word. Listen closely and He will let you know His answer. Put your trust, your faith, and your hopes in Him.

It is time to pour out your heart. Get somewhere quiet and tell the Lord all about it. He already knows, but sometimes you have not because you ask not. Today is the day and may the Lord grant you your petition in Jesus' name.

Prayer: Father, You know what is in my heart, the thing that I have been longing for. If You will allow it, I humbly pray that you grant my petition, in the name of Jesus.

Betrina Whitfield
Betrina Whitfield Amen. This devotion is a blessing. Thank God for giving you a ready word in season for His people. Just last night the Lord asked me to tell Him what was on my heart; to pour out my feelings and He asked questions along the way to help me get it out. He knows the desires of my heart and most importantly He knows my needs. In spending more intimate time with Him, it helps me not to focus on what is going on around me but instead; what I'm learning from Him and what He'll have me to do. I had been so caught up in my storm that I stayed in my room for the most part which left an opening for the devil to come in and stir up trouble and with that being said; I was hearing so much from the devil that it drowned the voice of God because I stepped away from consistent prayer and reading and so on and to add; when He asked something of me, I chose to do what i wanted and when I wanted to. I knew that wasn't the way to be with my Father, but I acted out on emotions until one day I heard "delayed obedience is disobedience," and the Holy Ghost conviction fell upon me and it brought me to repentance. I had to go to God and be straight up about my situation and even how I needed help to focus on Him and to be obedient to Him and He immediately began to help me. I know the Promises of God reign true in the lives of His people and I know that He did not deliver me from Egypt; only to leave me in the wilderness and I know that I know, I will not only see but enter my promised land and with that being said, I have peace that surpasses understanding. It's God's responsibility to take care of me because He is my Father and it's my job to do unto the Lord and purpose to walk with Him daily and cry out to Him instead of shutting down. As this devotion has blessed me; I hope this synopsis of my testimony blesses another. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield Ever since I was a little kid, I prayed for a horse! To me, that was the one thing I just could not live without. I finally got my horse when I was 15--after working hard at a pet shop (my parents adamantly refused to help me at the time, but I don't regret it) Praise our Lord for answered prayers!

Patty Martin
Patty Martin As I continue to pray and talk to our Lord every morning, throughout the day, and every night, I have come to the realization that sometimes His answers to our prayers are either, "Yes, in My time"  or "No, that isn't good for you."  I used to think that God wasn't listening, but now I realize that He has different answers to our prayers, and like a good father, God is both protecting us and preparing us.  Praise Him in his mercy, grace, knowledge and love!

Karen Pasquinelli
Karen Pasquinelli Amen!  I do have a question, do we keep asking for what we want or do we just ask one time?  Isn't once enough, after all he does hear us the first time.  I keep asking to be able to move back to California by this August before we have to sign another year lease...do I keep asking until then?

Dion Todd
Dion Todd I usually pray about the situation and then begin to thank the Lord for it like: "Lord I know that you have heard me and I thank you for making a way for me to move back to California." “ He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up, ”  (Luke 18:1 WEB)

Kay Rushin
Kay Rushin Thanks Karen, for asking this question, I am of the thinking such as you....didn't he hear me the first time? I know he says pray without ceasing, but also thank him because it is done. Karen, God can see ahead, so maybe it's more his will in our lives we should seek.

Sylvia Todd I think every situation is different, but I believe that there are times when our prayers are part of spiritual warfare. When we pray, especially in the Holy Spirit and in combination with fasting, we may be breaking through obstacles in the spirit realm, as in Daniel 10.

Kay Rushin Sylvia is this when the pray without ceasing comes into play? Like the answer has been sent, and  evil spirits try to hold up the answer? Is this what you mean? Fasting and praying is required?

Sylvia Todd
Sylvia Todd Hi Kay :), Yes, that's what I'm referring to. I don't know if fasting is always required, but even Jesus referred to times that required fasting. We do when we're seeking something important or we can't work out.

Patricia Walker I don't think it's wrong Michele, I have prayed for similar things.  I too lost my job last November when the Co. I worked for went out of business.  I have had so many interviews, but so far nothing....Unemployment has run out, and I have had so many things break around my home.  And my Son lives with me (on disability) due to a near fatal accident.  I feel your pain & your worries.  Please allow me to pray with you, for God knows what we need.  May He hear our prayers!!! God Bless you too!!  Amen

Deleted Member I agree with Sylvia, that even though Jesus hears us the first time, sometimes, we have to pray the enemy out of our way, we have to sometimes press forward and let Jesus know we truly mean business and we are not going to let satan be a stumbling block, but a stepping stone.

Betrina Whitfield God is your source and provides resources. He opens doors no man can shut and He makes a way out of no way. Have faith in God. Do as unto the Lord. Trust Him to see you through. You do what you can (job search) and God will do what you can't. Amen. Reach out to Him and tell Him what is on your heart and cast those cares unto Him. He will supply your need according to His riches and glory. Amen. My job closed on December 19th of this year and I haven't lost anything nor have I gone hungry. God has provided for me and I'm thankful for everything I have and everything He has done and is doing for me. Michele; you are going to make it. You are making it. Amen. Blessings to you.

Virginia Turner I do not have my Bible with me at the moment, but one thing He wants for you is:  "Beloved, I would that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers."   The Lord wants you to prosper financially, in your health as well as to prosper spiritually.

Ticardo Williams The asking, seeking and knocking in Matthew 7:7-8, indicate doing these things continually.  We can really hold our petitions before the Lord continually in our hearts.  And listen for His response.  Part of praying is listening.
