Yahweh opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?" Balaam said to the donkey, "Because you have mocked me, I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now I would have killed you." The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not yo...

Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Don't fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel." When The Brook Dries Up

  • So he went and did according to Yahweh's word; for he went and lived by the brook Cherith that is before the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook. After a while, the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land. Yahweh's word came to him, saying, 'Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain you.' 1 Kings 17:5 WEB

Each day Elijah watched the flow of water in the brook get smaller. God had told him to come here and He had supernaturally taken care of his needs, but now the brook was drying up, and God was not saying anything. After the brook had completely dried up, the word of the Lord came to Elijah and told him about the next place. Elijah did not know what was coming or where he was going until then. He was like a soldier waiting on orders to come down the chain of command.

Once the Lord put me in my own computer business. It was not planned; He pushed me into it through desperation and some very humbling circumstances. It prospered and was anointed for years. The Lord and I worked together as partners every day. Some days it was mostly ministry.

There were divine appointments and I never knew what the next day held. At times the Lord would send us there to minister to them. The computers would suddenly fix themselves when we walked into the building, but we would end up anointing the manager with oil and praying for them and their family. The Holy Spirit would descent right there in the office and everyone would begin to weep.

I was totally following the Holy Spirit, but then it began to dry up, and He became silent. Finally after months without work or hearing Him, I was on the verge of breaking down, giving up, throwing in the towel, and bankruptcy. That was the week that He spoke and took us to the next level. He pushed us into full time ministry. It was I who was panicking, but one word from Him changed everything.

Don't panic when the brook starts to dry up. When it has completely gone, the Lord will reveal the next step that you are to take. The time of silence will end. The time of lack will be over. The blessings will return. When God begins to promote you, He will often close out the old, before He opens the new.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please let me see the situation through Your eyes and focus on the bigger picture. Send us the Comforter for we want more of You in our lives. Help us make the right decisions, and to be in the right place, at the right time, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

I seem to be going through this right now. Do to medical issues, the time to retire has come. Some days it is very borring, but I guess sitting by a drying up creek might just be worse. I know that God is moving me along, as He had a Pastor ordain me in January. The hard part for me is not to get out in front of what He is doing, the waiting is the hardest part!

The waiting is tough, and it causes something inside of us to get frustrated and usually angry at God. I did. But He saw right past it all and continued His plan for us. He looks on the heart and understands the frustration is only because we want to be doing something for Him, and can't. Obviously He is bringing you to a new era. You just need to know what and when, a lot like Elijah. Sometimes we never see it coming. Like the year before He put us into online ministry, I didn't even have a facebook account and stayed completely anonymous on the Internet. Apparently He had a different idea....

I love this story, EliJah was at Cherith (refreshing) and the most stingiest bird (a raven) in the world brought him food everyday. Jehovah-Jireh! God takes care of His own and then EliJah went to Zarephath and was able to bless a poor widow and her son. We learn from this that God is Able and when we are willing to share with others, blessings will flow from above. God is Love and He wants us to love and minister (serve) each other. Be a blessing to someone today.

Another good Devotion!  His plans surely aren't ours!  The older I get, the more I realize this...and worry is a waste of time. God tells us to trust Him. It's a lesson in itself. God is good and He is Love. Thank You, Lord, for everything.
