Then the king made Daniel great and gave him many great gifts, and made him rule over the whole province of Babylon and to be chief governor over all the wise men of Babylon. Daniel 2:48 WEB.
Daniel was born into the royal family, but he was taken prisoner when Nebuchadnezzar captured Jerusalem in 597 B.C. Then Daniel was taken from his homeland and made a eunuch. He became a servant in the city of Babylon against his will. It wasn't the happiest of starts, but God promoted him to be second-in-command in due time. Daniel was known as the wisest man in Babylon.
Joseph was born as his father's favorite son but was then sold into slavery by his brothers and served time in prison before being promoted to second-in-command by Pharaoh. Moses was raised and educated in Pharaoh's royal family, then spent forty years tending sheep in the wilderness before becoming the most powerful man living on earth. David was anointed by Samuel, but he had to run from Saul for years before becoming the king.
God has a plan for you, but there is a time of proving, pruning, and maturing before it comes to pass. To us, it often looks like just plain waiting. Don't get discouraged while you are in the wilderness. God is completely faithful, and the things He has spoken to you will come to pass. You can't have a rags-to-riches story without spending time in the rags.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I wait on You. I thank You so much for all You are doing in my life, and I know that You will guide me down the best possible path. Please have Your way in my life. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
