The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" He answered them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, But their heart is far f...

He Understands

  • Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable. Isaiah 40:28 ESV

Tired and in a bad mood, we arrived home. We had worked at the church all day once again, and a new tax bill came while we were gone. We now owed five hundred dollars for additional taxes. Angrily I said, "If we had spent the time working in our business that we spent working at the church over the last month, we would have the money to pay this."

When we went to church that Sunday, one of the elders handed me an envelope and said that the church felt that they should pay us something for all the work that we had been doing recently. I knew before I opened it what was inside, it was a check for five hundred dollars. Without us mentioning the tax bill, God had told them the amount to give us and when we needed it.

God understands. He knows what you are going through. The temper tantrums that we throw don't even matter. He knows what you feel inside and why you act the way that you do. Don't give up when you stumble, get up.

Prayer: Father, I trust that You will take care of me. You know my needs before I ask and I know that you are a rewarder of those that seek You. Please be with me this day and work Your perfect will in my life, in the name of Jesus.

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wylesedited: December 2, 2015 Amen! One time when my daughter was still struggling with psychosis she called me at work in a panic saying she was lost in Chico... that's where she lived at the time as she refused to live with us and get help yet... Chico is 30 minutes away or so... I calmed her down some and understood she was trying to make it to a dr. apt walking as she had already lost her car through her sickness. She got lost in her mind and couldnt figure out where she was. She was in tears, she just wanted to accomplish some things that day and got overwhelmed. I told her I would come help but I needed to know where to go. She said she really needed to apply for medical as all these medical bills were now coming in and causing anxiety, but she couldnt find her way. So ALL the way over to find her I am praying... Lord I don't know where she is , I don't know how to help, but you do Lord! This is huge Lord she is asking for help finally... let me help her LORD, lead to to where she is and let me be able to get her signed up to help with her bills. I don't even know where to start looking Lord Help me! Let this be the turning point Lord! Help me.... you get the picture... I didnt know how to help but God pointed my car to where she was and got us to that office to apply for medi-cal and it was the start of her realizing she couldn't get well on her own and needed to eccept that fact! Even when we are lost and don't know what to do... he does and our Father will lead us if we only seek his guidance and sometimes even when we are running in the opposite direction of help, like Carissa was! God is GOOD ALWAYS! Some days through that dark time I wondered why and God would send me an answer... it would be a gentle whisper... "you see she needed to experience that so she would understand she needed help, I have the plan! No worries!" or it  would be actualy showing me the results like when she drove 100's of miles away only to run out of gas and call police for help... which put her in the mental hospital that really did something for her... our county didn't seem to have the resources but this county did and she slowly started getting better after that hospital so that she would take herself to the next one willingly! Why so many visits to get her well? Only God knows but he showed me each step why it was really a blessing and not a curse. She had to feel her losses before she would accept help... God let her feel those losses in the safest way possible and his plan worked. She got better by the grace of our Father. He knows our needs before we ask! Thanks you Pastor I guess I needed to get that out today :) Blessings and safe travels ;)    Prayer: Father, I trust that You will take care of me. You know my needs before I ask and I know that you are a rewarder of those that seek You. Please be with me this day and work Your perfect will in my life, in the name of Jesus.

Teresa Hyman
Teresa Hyman I really needed to hear this today.  Over the past couple of days it's been rough.  I have a stack of bills and was expected to be paid on the 3rd but this company won't pay us now until the 8th, needless to say I went OFF.  For the bills, for plans made, Christmas, etc and I'm not sure if they will pay us on the 8th.  I have been praying for calmness and peace and for him to provide and even though I was angry I still felt peace and calmness overcome me so I know that's a sign that I'm being looked after.    Thank you for today's message.

Ilia Jefferson
Ilia Jefferson This was a moment when I felt this post was written just for me. I feel so frustrated today for so many reasons, and feeling that I don't care about anything and want to quit everything I do.  Sometimes you feel like you can only be pushed so far, and instead of being motivated to move forward you just want to quit.  (I know this feeling is temporary, and I just need to keep pushing on)  I just finished praying about this and crying to the Lord, and I opened your devotional. Wow! God is good. Lately, the verse Luke 22:31-32 has been placed before me numerous and random times. I thought of it this morning, and I am so amazed that Jesus would tell me that 1) He is praying for me, and 2) he is praying my fail will not fail.  I love you Jesus! Thank you Pastor Todd for your hard work and committment to the Lord.  I pray you and Sylvia have a great day!

Mary Pat Taylor
Mary Pat Taylor I'm glad He understands because sometimes it is hard to put needs into words for me. I have a job interview tomorrow...actually an all day group of tests and interviews.  It's a good job money-wise, enough that my boyfriend says he'll help around the house because I'd be making more than him! It will be a stressful job though, not something I enjoy, but I really need the money and it has benefits as well.  Just praying to the Lord that His will be done in this.  I would love something that I actually have a passion for, but the things that God has put in heart to love to do and be good are things that can't seem to provide a living for me.

Twila Stierwalt
Twila Stierwalt I love this. Thank you for sharing this story of Gods provision to you.  I to have had God provide what I needed, even when I lost the trust that He was going to take care of my needs. The passage I read this morning, reminided me of the importance of Gods work and how it reflects in my life. Who God is, and that it is God alone that does meet my needs.   Psalm 62: 1-2 & 5-8, My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. He only is my rock, and my salvation. My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken. My soul, wait in silence for God only, for my hope is in Him. He only is my rock and salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be shaken.  On Gog my salvation and glory rest. The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him God is a refuge for us.

Wendy Blake
Wendy Blake I always enjoy your daily devotions.  I don't always ready them daily as I should but boy do I read them on the right days when I need them and today was one of those days!!  God is so good to us and we forget that when things are moving right along but how soon we are right there to ask why when something goes wrong, why me, where are you now, etc., and he's there all the time just waiting on us to remember that!  Have a blessed day!!

K K
K K I missed this yesterday, maybe for a reason? Today  I discovered somehow I lost $300 my daughter (who just left her job after wrecking her car by hitting a deer) gave me for part of the rent. I tore apart everything looking for it: car, house, computer case, bed...everywhere my purse might have spilled (usually in the car) and it's nowhere to be found. My daughter is pretty upset. Naturally. And while I can't believe I just "dropped" it somehow and don't recall (I'm pretty careful when out with my purse/wallet), clearly it appears gone. I did hand a couple homeless people some money on the dark (standing in snow at street corners). All I can think that is if that's where it went, then God meant it for those folks and not us.  I managed to sell a few personal items to make up the money.  I told my daughter I refuse to be angry or worried about it. I'm grateful I had some things to sell that could make up the difference. And that I'm trusting in God to make sure we are ok and have what we need. I'm so thankful that I both kept that message of faith and saw this devotional a day late! God provides. Thank you Pastor for the message. Thank you Lord for loving us!
