For you will bless the righteous. Yahweh, you will surround him with favor as with a shield. Psalm 5:12 WEB.
Once while at church on a Sunday night, the pastor's wife came over to me and said that she felt the Lord wanted me to get my GED (high school equivalency degree). I had left high school early to join the workforce like the rest of my brothers. I knew the Lord was speaking through her, so I told her I would look into it.
Monday morning, I went to the Adult Education Center in Conway, SC. I prayed all the way there. The parking lot was full of cars, but there was one slot open by the door when I arrived. I went inside and explained that I had been out of school for a long time, but I wanted to get my GED. They said they would test me, teach me the subjects that I lacked, prepare me for the test, and I should have it within six months to one year.
Tuesday morning, I went back and took the pre-test. Once more, I prayed all the way there, and there was a parking spot available by the front door. The test seemed easier than I was expecting. I was braced for much worse. Each day I prayed for His grace and mercy to do what I had to do.
Wednesday morning, I went back for the test results to see what I needed to work on. There was a parking spot open by the front door. The staff greeted me with a strange look and asked, "How long have you been studying?" I told them, "I hadn't. I decided to do it two days ago." They were amazed and said that I had scored in the high 90s and didn't need to improve on any subjects to prepare for the test.
The woman helping me said, "It's a shame you didn't come last month because they only hold these tests twice a year, and the next one is this Saturday. But you have to sign up for them a month in advance." Then she decided to call them up and discuss it. They asked for my test scores. She faxed my tests over to them. They found they had a cancellation and approved me to take the test on Saturday.
Saturday morning, I showed up at the test location in Georgetown, SC. I prayed all the way there, and there was a parking space open near the front door. I went in and took the eight-hour test. How far is the earth from the moon? I hadn't a clue… got it right! I was one of the first to finish the test, and when I returned to church on Sunday morning, I had completed my G.E.D. from start to finish in one week. After that, the Lord had me start Bible college. He had plans bigger than mine, and though I had wrecked them, He gave me the divine favor to correct them, and He expedited a tedious process for me.
Do you ever feel like you will never make up for those years you lost? That you wrecked His plan for you? God's divine favor can make up for lost time and enable you to rocket past the normal progression. When His word comes to us, it brings the power to complete the task given.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that you help me correct the mistakes in my life. Please help me move forward and make up for the lost time. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
