The king talked with them; and among them all was found no one like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore stood they before the king. In every matter of wisdom and understanding concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchante...

If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, "Don't handle, nor taste, nor touch" (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imp...

Agree to Disagree

  • This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you insist confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men; but shun foolish questionings, genealogies, strife, and disputes about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. Titus 3:8-9 WEB.

Years ago, I felt everyone needed to believe like me, and I could make a convincing argument as to why. In bible college, we often had vigorous discussions about some petty point of doctrine. Yet, not once do I remember convincing anyone of anything except to avoid me when they saw me coming.

Jesus told us to Love God and to love each other. Yet by large, we search out reasons to disagree. It is great to discuss things, but when you reach a point of disagreement and neither party will change their mind, then move on to the next topic. It is OK to disagree. We are all wrong about something, and no one needs our approval to go to heaven. So be nice and be loving in your conversation.

It has to sadden the Lord to see His people pointing their fingers at each other while the world looks on and laughs. We argue amongst ourselves like little spoiled children, accusing each other, while the world goes to hell around us. Heresy has become anything we don't like or that we disagree with.

We don't have to agree on everything. Jesus is Lord, He died for our sins, He was resurrected, and by faith in Him, we are saved. If we can agree on these things, let us be happy and not seek out reasons to disagree. Some people eat meat. Some do not. Some go to church on Sunday, some do not. Some drink wine, some do not. Some prefer dresses, some do not.

People don't have to agree with you to be saved because you are not God. In a family, the children may not agree or even like one another, but the parents love them all just the same. In the same way, God loves us all, even the people we don't like.

So do yourself a favor today and just let the disagreement go. You do not have to be right, and if you are, you should not be so insecure about what others think. If they are wrong, God will fix them sooner or later. Adding more words will usually just broaden the gap between you and them, every single time. Let's agree to disagree.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me see the world through Your eyes. Speak to me and through me and give me the grace to keep my mouth shut until the proper time. Give me wisdom and tact in my relationships. Guide my every step. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Note: For those participating in the Creation Photography weekly themes, here is this week's challenge from group leader, Dianna Wyles: Matthew 2:1-2 "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." ~ This week's theme is "Wise Men Still Seek Him"! All of our themes are always open wide for creative interpretation and we encourage you to post anything else that inspires you as well. Here is the link: Creation Photographers

Heavenly Father I thank You for all you have done in our lives, help us to agree to disagree in every situation we encounter. When I speak let me see the world through Your eyes and speak to me and through me, thank You Father. In the Holy name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen. That Your love and care be with us, Amen.

Great devotional reminder Pastor, as always thank you and Sylvia. Amen

Yes I agree 100% with this. Too many Christians argue over things that are not important to their salvation and the answer really doesn't matter. Thank you for this reminder today. Arguing about petty things like this can just separate Christians not help them.
