For his anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, But joy comes in the morning. Psalms 30:5 WEBI tossed and turned on the bed, unable to sleep. The pressure of what was going on in our life was tormenting, and even though we were exhausted, we could not sleep because we knew what we had to face the next day. When the morning finally arrived, all the worry had been for nothing for God had already taken care of the problem. Our worry had just been a waste of time and energy.
Looking back over my life, there were many times when things looked really bad, but when the next day came, things were better. All the worry was for nothing, and even if the situation had not changed, the worry had not helped.
The sentence 'weeping may stay for the night' suggests an overnight visitor. It could be translated as: 'At evening, weeping may arrive for the night, but Joy is coming to stay in that room in the morning, so he has to be gone by then.'
Paul wrote 'For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory; while we don't look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal' (2 Corinthians 4:17'18).
Don't worry about tomorrow. Instead wait patiently on God. He knows what is going on in your life. Pray, spend a little time with Him each day, just the two of you. Share your heart with Him. Sit quietly and listen for a moment. It will change your life for the better, and you will be amazed at the mini miracles that will begin to happen around you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father I look to You today. Please turn my weeping into joy. Walk with me, talk with me, help me come to know You better. Teach me what I need to know to move forward, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen!Note: 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.'
