Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God can't be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth dea...

By faith Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared a ship for the saving of his house, through which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which ...

Blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the way of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers; But his delight is in Yahweh's law; On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That brings forth its fruit in its se...

The Buck Stops Here

  • if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 WEB

I have a Dilbert cartoon about tech support taped to our internet router because it reminds me of our service provider here. Each time that we call them with a problem, they immediately say that it must be something on our end, but then the problem is silently fixed.

In the cartoon, Dilbert the technician answers the support telephone and the first thing that he said to the customer calling was: 'Your problem is with another company's products or services.' Without hearing, knowing, or caring what the problem was. The customer said: 'But you haven't heard what the problem is yet.' To which Dilbert replied: 'Let's pretend that will make a difference.'

As Christians, we often try to pass the buck onto the world or other groups, while we are the only ones with the key. We believe that it is someone else's fault that we are in this situation, when actually we are trapped in a pit that we dug ourselves. Many times we are reaping what we have sown (Galatians 6:7).

There is only one way out of the pit: That we turn to God, humble ourselves and pray. Then He promises that He will hear from heaven, turn, and heal our land. Whether we caused it or not, we have the answer.

The answer is not politics or war, but seeking God. All through the Bible, God moved when His people got serious with Him. When they became lukewarm and backslidden, their nation fell apart.

Can Christians prosper in a fallen world? Absolutely! If we all were to humble ourselves (fasting), repent, and pray, then God will turn and heal our nation. May God give us the wisdom and grace to do so.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I pray that You bring peace to our nation. Forgive us. Guide our leaders. Remove the evil influences from our government. Fill our nation with Your presence and convict people of sin once again, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

I have been praying this for our Nation very regularly, I have never witnessed so much evil and evil doers in our government. God is the only answer, and I know a lot of Americans are on their knees praying, Including is. What has been happening the last few days has been very frightening. Let us all be diligent and pray for our country. Great message this morning Pastor Dion.

Amen!

What you have shared is so very true.  We must all continue to pray for America, our government, our people to be convicted and turn to our Lord Jesus.  It is the only way.  Thank you Pastor for an excellent devotional.

Good story, Pastor Dion, and a true one. Although it is very difficult to admit sometimes, the one most responsible for our present situations, in most cases, is us. We each must take responsibiity for our actions and mistakes and not pin the blame on others.
