Walking on Water from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the importance of believing the Lord, of shaking off the naysayers and continuing on your own journey. People have a tendency to not want you to go where they have not been. Leaders cannot lead you, where they h...

Out of that terrible travail of soul, he'll see that it's worth it and be glad he did it. Through what he experienced, my righteous one, my servant, will make many 'righteous ones,' as he himself carries the burden of their sins. Therefore I'll reward him extravagantly' the best of everything, the ...

But Ruth said, Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. Ruth 1:16 ESVRuth walked along the road thinking about ...

The Captain

  • He took a towel, and wrapped a towel around his waist. Then he poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him. Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, 'Lord, do you wash my feet?' Jesus answered him, 'You don't know what I am doing now, but you will understand later.' Peter said to him, 'You will never wash my feet!' John 13:4 WEB

At the last supper, only Jesus understood that this would be the last time that they would share a meal together on earth. It was customary before a passover meal for you to ceremonially wash at home, but as you walked to dusty roads to go to the supper, your feet would get dirty. A servant would typically wash the guests feet to refresh them before the meal. According to Jewish tradition, a Jewish servant was not asked to wash people's feet. This lowly task was assigned to gentile servants.

When they arrived at the supper, there was no servant at all. The disciples looked around at each other and they all sat down. None of them were going to perform such a menial task. Jesus, however, rose and began to wash their feet, even those of Judas. They sat in silence as Jesus washed the feet of one disciple after another, until He came to Peter. You could count on Peter to speak his mind, and Peter rebuked Jesus. The King of all Kings, was also a servant. The disciples did not understand, but later, after the events that followed came to pass, they understood what He was doing.

In my life, there has been so many times where I did not understand what was going on. How could this even happen? After the storm passed though, it made sense. Looking back on the events, I can see how God used circumstances to steer me like the rudder of a ship to get where I needed to go.

Jesus could see what was coming. The disciples could not. It all worked out just the way that it was supposed to. God does not tell us everything, and if He did, we would not understand it all just like the disciples. God is the Captain of the ship and He tells us what we need to know to do our part. He tells other people their parts, and then He takes care of the rest.

You may be facing something that you do not understand and God seems to be doing some weird things, or nothing at all. Why is this happening? Give it time. God reserves the right be God sometimes and He does not explain it to us. He knows what He is doing, where this is going, and our part to trust Him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for guiding me today. Put me where I need to be to serve You the best. Cut me loose from the things that hold me back. Speak to me in a way that I understand and fulfill Your perfect will in my life, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

I love this part of Jesus being the servent. How important this is in my serving others, Jesus gives me all the tools to do that. Gal. 5:22-26, If you belong to Jesus Christ you are alive, the flesh has been crucified with its passions and desires,(they are dead) If you live by the Spirit let us also walk by the Spirit, let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.

How do we do this? By the fruit of the Holy Spirit, (Love, Peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control; against these things their is no law.

If we are alive then we need to act like it!

I love the word you share with us, pastor Deion, God is using you in a great way!

I am in full agreement with this message. Trusting Father God to guide me to what He knows is best for me and my family. I believe in God and trust Him for a new start in which I think He is guiding me to Texas where my oldest son, daughter in law and grandchildren live. Me and my youngest son are traveling there on the 23rd to visit and pick up my middle son and my mother then return home. Maybe stopping off in Jacksonville,FL along the way to visit my brother and his family. Please pray for my family and I for a safe journey for as I am driving all the way down and back. Need traveling mercies from God. Thank y'all and God bless...
