Finding Your Purpose: Part 7

  • Finding Your Purpose: Part 7 from Jim Jarrell on Vimeo.

Hello everyone, my name is Jim Jarrell and I call this series, Finding Your Purpose.

In my videos I have quoted Luke 8:38-39 which said: “But the man from whom the demons had gone out was begging Him that he might accompany Him; but He sent him away, saying, return to your house and describe what great things God has done for you. So he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.” I am going to use this scripture a couple of more times as I find it explains what our purpose is.

Before I go on, I hope that everyone has seen that all of this was God’s idea. From the very beginning, God has done the work; I just followed His orders. So many say there is no evidence that God is real. I have been very careful to mention those who saw all of this happen in my videos. It should be no problem finding those people who can testify I am telling the truth.

My wife and I have a small pest control business. Before I retired, my job was to go into people's homes and treat for whatever insects. Many days that included performing service on condo units and this was one of those days. I was treating a unit in 2007 when I heard a voice say, “There is a lady of prayer in here and I want you to speak with her.” When I came into the living room there were two ladies having a conversation. One was giving the other instructions and I did not want to interrupt them. I convinced myself that I had been hearing things and upon finishing, I just said good day to them.

Once outside, I walked toward the next condo when I heard the voice of God again. This time it was much louder and it really got my attention. God said, “I told you I wanted you to speak with that lady.” I sat my sprayer and the keys down and went back to the door. I had no idea who would answer the door, I just prayed whoever answered the door was who I was suppose to speak with. The cleaning lady answered the door. I asked her if she would come outside, I would like to speak with her. She closed the door behind her and stepped out.

I asked her if she had ever heard of someone getting a message from God. That ladies eyes got as big as fifty cent pieces. She said, “I have, I have been a Pentecostal all my life. I have seen others get messages, but never me.” Just then God spoke again, He said; “She has been praying about her husband!” I looked at her ring finger and there was no wedding ring. I just repeated what God had said to me and she responded. She said, “I have, my husband has become disabled and I have to leave him alone to come and clean.” God spoke again and said; “Tell her that I have heard her prayers and I am going to answer them.” So I just told her what I had heard. She said something I will never forget, she said, “Thank you for being obedient.” She turned and went back inside. I finished my day without any more interruptions.

It would be three months before I returned to that condo. The lady who owned the unit answered the door that morning. Once inside, I asked her about the cleaning woman I had spoken to the last time. She went on to tell me the strangest story. She said, “That lady got a new job she could do from home. It paid her so well that she was able to buy a new home as well.” God had not only heard her prayers, but He had answered them in His own way. Most people underestimate the power of prayer. Maybe this will inspire more people to pray. Thank you all for your time, I will see you again!
