The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" He answered them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, But their heart is far f...

Be a "will be"

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

Are you a has been, or a will be? I have referred to myself in the past as a this or a that. For example, I was a collegiate athlete, and that is great, but it does not define who I am now. I used to drink a lot, but it does not define me today.
I have talked with a lot of people who are stuck in the past about who they once were, as if it defines them today. They will often look to negative or positive situations and cling to them as their identity. One of the best things the Lord showed me when I was struggling with this idea was this scripture. I am a new creation and even if some of the characteristics of who I once was, tries to creep in and remind me of my past failures or past identities, I can rely on the fact that I am a "will be" and not a 'has been'. I am no longer what defined me in my past. I am a child of God, I am blessed, I am healthy, I am fit, I am prosperous, I am loved, I have great relationships, I am successful, I am made in His image. So too are you!
There are so many things that you and I are now that we are new creations in Jesus Christ.
Let go of any label that makes you a has been and become a will be. Whatever you have in your heart to become in Christ, declare it, and He will bring you into the creation that you believe you will become.
On your way to 'will be' make sure that you recognize who you are in Christ today. The old has passed away, it is dead and buried, and what is alive is who you are today, this moment and that is a loved child. There is no distance He will not travel to protect you, love you, and shower you with gifts of grace. Do not listen to the lies of the enemy when he tries to drag you back to who you once were. What is to come is exceedingly greater than whatever we were in the past! Give Jesus the praise, it is through Him that you are a will be!

Sylvia Todd That is a great word, brother, thank you! Hanging too much onto the past, even the good things, can be a trap if it keeps us from moving forward in His plan!

Deleted Member Thank you so much for this message today. It truly blessed my heart. I pray that we all focus on what God wants for us to be, not what satan tries to make us feel. Our past is gone, old things have passed away and yes Praise The Lord, we are going to definetely be A Will Be for Jesus, not a has been. Keep on keeping on for Jesus.
