My Life changed and entered into a realm of 'Irreversibility' on the very Day in which I accepted the invitation for Jesus to Abide within me. It was 56 years ago when the Holy Spirit came for me at the tender age of 5.
Actually, I had absolutely NO IDEA of what would happen because of this 'decision'. I only understood 'inside of me' (somehow) that the decision I was making would change who I was and that that decision was absolutely a necessity.
This was NOT a religious ceremony. Nor was it the 'whim of a mere moment in time'. What is was - can only be described as a Moment of Internal Confrontation and Extreme Clarity.
I had personally been confronted by 'something so different' and by 'Someone' Who was determined to take on the challenge of yet another Life.
We often 'see things' from our perspective. But at that very moment, God - Who is Eternal, and Who knew all things from before Time was ... contracted an agreement with me. He would give me Life in exchange for everything that had ... or could ever ... separate Me from Him.
But without a doubt, this contract was not wholly contingent on my ability to hold steadfast with an unwavering agreement to it. Salvation is not the Act of 'Having Been Saved' ... it is so very much more! It is 'Being Saved' which denotes a continual process based on the Present and Future ... and not simply the momentary experience from the Past.
I have often slipped, fallen, and even 'turned away'. I have also known failure and anger and bitterness. Yet over the course of nearly 45 years since 'confessing with the mouth and believing in the heart' ... God ... has remained ever Faithful and Forgiving.
Yes ... after all these many years ... it remains true that I have nothing to boast in ... except for His Grace and His Mercy. That One Choice, that One Decision ... was and is and shall ever be ... the Very Best Choice I have ever made.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
