Yahweh spoke to Manasseh, and to his people; but they didn't listen. Therefore Yahweh brought on them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh in chains, bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. When he was in distress, he begged Yahweh his God, and humbled himse...

RHM Devotional: Anxiety from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about something that is plaguing so many people today: anxiety. It is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about something with an uncertain outcome. It has always been a problem, Jesus spoke ...

Your word is a lamp to my feet, And a light for my path. Psalms 119:105 WEBThe old oil lamps that were used in biblical times had a small radius of light. They would light the path just a few feet ahead of you, and you could not see very far down the road. When traveling by night, you could see just...

Too Much Happiness

  • Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Phil 4:5 KJV

There are so many things in this life that God has given us to enjoy and He does want us to have pleasure while we are here. Relationships, eating, drinking, work, health, exercise, hobbies, are all valuable pursuits. However, none of these are to become the end goal and sole focus of your life.

Anytime something becomes more important in your life than God, the cart is getting in front of the horse. Before long, your life will have an unhealthy balance. Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit and almost the opposite of addiction. Like Paul, we are to discipline our bodies and make it obey us, not just follow what it desires.

'But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.' (1 Corinthians 9:27).

Jesus told a parable in Luke 12:21 about a man who amassed goods and the last verse was, "So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God." The problem was the man was NOT rich toward God, not necessarily having wealth. God wants you to have wealth, but not for wealth to have you. God wants you to have food, but not for food to have you.

Put God first in your life. Involve Him in your work, in your relationships, in your hobbies, pray over your meals, during your workouts. If you do this, things will balance and He will show you when enough, is enough. When He is invited into your life, He will take part in your activities and help you maintain a healthy balance.

Prayer: Father, I thank You so much for all that You have given me. Help me bring discipline to my life and learn when to say no. Teach me Your way and give me a clear vision of the bigger picture. Make me steadfast, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning! The highlighted group of the week is Keep It Simple Crafts: this group is about the joy of creating beautiful, yet simple, projects for your home, as gifts or just for fun! Crafts that can be created with little-to-no skill are encouraged here. Please check out the group from the groups list and join the fun! ALSO the Creation Photographers fun theme of the week is "Freedom", based on Galatians 5:13 and in celebration of American Independence Day! As always you are free to share as God calls you to. (I know these announcements are later in the week than normal, so apologies to the group leaders! I thought for sure that I had taken care of it already, but apparently not :) - Sylvia)

Amen! Thnak you Pastor Dion for the daily devotion. My mother always prayed this and I do too I learned it from my mother. She would always pray Lord I don't need all the fancy thins that many people wish for but I do pray that I always have just enough. She always told us all you need is just enough. Just enough meaning a roof over your head cloths on your back food on your table. If your have a little extra count your blessings. Amen. <3

There is no greater personal trainer than God. Whe we give Him this rightful place in our lives, He moves us to make healthy choices. Choices that are healthy not just physically, but emotionally, mentally and spiritually. The Holy Spirit as our life coach trains us up to be conformed more into the image of Jesus. We must yield by complete surrender and then allow the Master to create a pure heart in us.

Oh my gosh. I just have to share this. God is doing a work in my life at this very moment. So, I am on the prayer request page asking for prayer to calm my nerves because I am so anxious even though I told myself I would be calm. Before I even finish typing my prayer request, my son texted me and said, "Good luck today, mom. You got this. Love ya." and before I could finished reading his text--another came from a friend. "Morning  good luck my fingers are crossed." PRAISE GOD!!! I am actually shedding tears of happiness. I'm okay and am going to start getting ready. GOD is so good. I just can't stop the laughing and rejoicing.

That's true, brother, probably most of the great figures in the Bible came from simple beginnings! All the better for Him to show what He can do!
