Elijah said to her, 'Don't be afraid. Go and do as you have said; but make me a little cake from it first, and bring it out to me, and afterward make some for you and for your son. For Yahweh, the God of Israel says, 'The jar of meal will not run out, and the jar of oil will not fail, until the day that Yahweh sends rain on the earth.' She went and did according to the saying of Elijah; and she, and he, and her house, ate many days. 1 Kings 17:14 WEB
Because of a string of bad choices made by the leadership of Israel, Ahab and Jezebel, the entire land suffered drought and then famine. Those two seemed to honor any god around except for Father God, so it did not rain for years and the people could not plant crops in the dry dust.
During this drought and famine, Elijah was sent to stay with a poor widow in Zarephath, who had only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in jar. She planned to make her and her son a small cake as their last meal, then they would starve to death together. While she was out gathering sticks to build a fire on which to cook her last meal, she met Elijah the prophet.
Though it is totally against what we think that our God would do, instead of God providing for the poor widow, He asked her to give Him something first. Would God really ask a poor, starving widow with no income to share the little that she had with someone else? Apparently. It is all about putting out trust in Him, and none are exempt from 'Give, and it will be given to you.'
Elijah told her to first make him a small cake out of what she had, and then some for her and her son, because the bin of flour and the jug of oil would not run out until it rained on the earth. When she did as he asked, the little bit that she had fed them all for the next three years.
Our God is a sustaining God, and when trouble comes on the earth, He is more than able to take care of those that listen for His voice. He took care of Elijah and the widow even when the land that he lived in was undergoing judgment. Stay close to the Lord for He is able to sustain you during the hard times. It may not come in the form of something new, but it just may be that what you already have goes a lot further.
The Lord has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and self control (2 Tim 1:7). Do not fear the circumstances that seem to engulf you. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight (Isaiah 59:19 AMP).
Prayer: Father, I put my trust in You today. Lead me, speak to me in a way that I understand. Help me to see the big picture and beyond my own circumstances. Thank You for providing for me, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
Thank you Father in Heaven for always providing for me! I am satisfied with what you have given me and I am blessed by you ALWAYS! Amen!!

This scripture has reminded me of Asher and I many times. My unemployment comes to an end this Wednesday. Thus far God has sustained us. There is still food in the refidgerator, the bills are current. There is gas in the car. All I can do is wait on the Lord to fullfull the job opening for me. Although I no longer have to record for unemploymnet, I still have to put forth the effort to reach out to these job sites. Today I go to Goodwill to see what programs they have to offer. I do not yet know the know the door, but I have to keep in mind "Perseverance means you don't quit, you don't stop, you dn't give up.You keep going. Perservance means you keep at it, what ever it takes. God said He would provide, I have to trust and Believe He will, as I have seen Him do so many times before.
Keeping you & your son in my prayers, for God to make a way where there seems to be no way. God bless you my friend! >i<

Amen, Julie! I know it's easy to forget all that we are blessed with during times of stress especially, but I believe having an attitude of gratitude is part of staying in His blessings.

Thank you Lord for providing for me and giving me wonderful blessings.I thank you and praise you for all you do for me. Amen.
Amen! Give and it will be given! Thank you Pastor! I have been trying not to be worried about certain things...My daughter moved out which is a very good and blessed thing as it says she is healed and ready to stand on her own again. Praising God for her healing! Along with my unemployment which has now run out, my Husband's meger income, and the small amount we were getting from our daughter to help while she stayed with us, was how we were making it work so, while it's a great blessing she is healed and ready to step out on her own once more, the simultaneous loss of both my and her income has left me struggling to completely trust God for his provisions... I should NEVER doubt God's mighty provisions! We have some friends also struggling, in fact they are in between homes and looking. We offered them my daughter's bedroom until they were able to find a place of there own weeks ago when we found out their situation. He said he would get back to us and we didn't hear from them again untill yesterday. They still need a place and I think they will be staying with us for a moment. I believe it is God's solution for us both to help each other through these lean times. We don't have, much but together, with God providing, we can make it work! Thank you Father for guiding us each day and all you provide along the way! Your gifts are abundant even through the struggles! Pastor's Prayer: Father, I put my trust in You today. Lead me, speak to me in a way that I understand. Help me to see the big picture and beyond my own circumstances. Thank You for providing for me, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
God will and does provide.

Amen even if I am in a season of lack, if I give, He will sustain me. It doesn't have to be monetary giving, it can be giving of my time to help someone in need, it can be spending time in Bible study, worshi and prayer for others needs, putting their needs above my own. He sees these offerings I give and He provides far more than enough to get me through these dry seasons.
I believe this, Carol.
HE provides our need for GOD is love and our great provider. Amen

There have been so many times that GOD has provided for me in ways that I didn't even know. Yes, I have had many low points, just as I am going through now; but, for now I am at peace with my current situation. A big part of that was joining Refreshing Mininistries Website. Due to my illness or work hours I was finally able to attend church yesterday and all the love of the people and Praising the Lord with others just surrounded me as though I had never left. It was awesome to feel the The Holy Spirit among others again. The sermon: GRACE! Just what I needed. Like the song; When you feel you have reached your limit, it's not over yet. GOD is moving in my life in a mighty way!!! Great message, Pastor Dion.
Amen, Rebecca.
GOD is moving in a mighty way. It is not over yet. Be strong and courageous for GOD is always with us through our life. Amen

That is wonderful, Rebecca, thank you so much for sharing that! You are just as much a blessing to us as we are to you :). I pray that God blesses you and keeps you each step of the way through your situation!
AMEN! When God is up to something hard, He is up to something big. I pray that I will go through the hard, with Gods help so I can let Him do the big thing in my life.
Me too. Amen
