Why Me Lord

  • Yahweh, how my adversaries have increased! Many are those who rise up against me. Many there are who say of my soul, 'There is no help for him in God.' Selah. But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. Psalms 3:1 WEB

    David wrote these words while fleeing from his own son, Absalom, who plotted to kill David and become king in his place. Almost everyone that David knew had turned against him, and he had to leave town and hide, even though he was the king (2 Samuel 15:14). In short, his life fell apart overnight and his own family sought to kill him.

    During this time, David wrote that God was a shield about him to protect him from harm, even though there were thousands of people chasing him. The Lord was his glory (splendor, honor and wealth) and the Lord lifted (exalted) his head.

    David recognized that his promotion did not come from man, and neither would his demotion come from a man. David did not say, 'Why me Lord?' He trusted that the Lord would resolve it, and He did. While pursuing David, Absalom got his head caught in a tree and he met a quick ending (2 Samuel 18:9). God used a simple unmoving tree to bring down the prideful Absalom.

    If you get into a bad situation where your life falls apart, try and resist saying, 'Why me Lord?' Give it to God and know that He will make things right, protect you through it and exalt you in due time. Promotion comes from the Lord, and no one can take it away unless He allows it.

    Prayer: Father, I put my trust in You today. My life is in Your hands and You are in control of what happens to me. No one has the power to snatch me from Your hand. Fulfill Your will in my life, guide me, teach me, speak to me and through me, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

When something we think is bad happens to us, don't say 'why me Lord?', but rather 'what are you trying to teach me Lord?'.

Pastor Dion, It is so amazing at how your messages always reflect on what is going on daily in my life. I have an emotionally and  verbal abusive son, (35) who has been staying with me for the last four years since his divorce. Coming from a past of physical, sexual, emtional, and verbal abuse; I am getting daily confirmation that God is in control and that this is all about to come to an end soon. I have needed the extra money from him just to survive, but he keeps giving me less and less. It started at 75 a week, which lasted about 6 months. Since then, it has gone from 50 or less each week. I have put up with this because I have had no choice; however, God revealed to me yesterday that Big changes are soon to happen. My son has always depended on me because I am an enableing mother. It is all about to change. He isn't aware yet, but Big changes are soon to come. I was on the verge of a breakdown yesterday, praising the Lord, annointing my home and finally broke down uncontrollably. I felt I was losing my mind, but God intervened. In the midst of my prayers and rebuking that Satan flee from my home. a prayer was answered. In the next few months, I will be moving to another state. While I was so down and frantic, my childhood friend, Ruthi called just in time to pray and calm me down. I will be selling my mobile home after disability hearing in a few weeks and going to live with her. My son is in for a rude awakening. He is 35 and it's time for me to set him free to become an adult. I am moving from SC to VA to get away from all this negativity and finally try to have a life for me. It's my turn. It is so sad that with him knowing my financial situation that he shared with me he is buying 2 season passes @ 175 each for him and son, and that he bought a new phone for 175 in two days time, but could only give me 50. I was able to contain my smile and composure, knowing that God is at work in my life each minute. He is about to be in a rude awakening when I tell him soon that I will be selling my trailor and moving away for my own sanity. Your messages are really aligning with the everyday things I am going through, so thank you so much for the messages. God is good! I am about to have a life free of that kind of bondage for the first time in my 55 years. IT'S MY TIME!  Thank you. Lord for using this site as a vessel in my life.

You amaze me pastor!!! You know how to speak to the broken hearted;me. I have to leave my home and no one in my family wants me to move in with my mom and dad as she has alziemers. I get it but I think God wants me to move in to be a help to her.  My brother in law strongly stated he  forbade it. This angers me. Who is he to tell me what to do.  He's never around my mom.  I think he's speaking for my sister and because I asked him to co sign a small loan to pay for my attorney, he has right to tell me what to do.

God will heal your broken heart. I pray that You will know without a doubt what God wants you to do. I to moved my Mother and father in to our home. My father had alziemers, it was a very trying time but the most blessed time of my life. I would do it all over again if God asked me to. I had the priviledge of taking care of them for 9 months. My father pased away 1 week before hid 93 birthday, and my mom followered him to heaven exactly 2 weeks later. What a joisious time that 9 months was. I am not telling you this for yiou to do the same, just to let you hnow that that was what God called me to do. I pray that their will be peace in your family.

Amen! No matter where we go or what comes against us in this world, He is there right in the midst of it all.

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace. Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conqu’rors we are! His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Thank you Dion for the prayer.  Msg great.  I was cleaning out some pictures  from years gone by.  At end I threw them out.  I became teary eyed how many family pics they were that in years gone by relationships ended.  The gains in Christ are much more.  I knew the path to start gave warningas I walk with Christ it may happen.  The Lord is my family as they who are in the family. Truthfully even in God's family  there are some who do not see eye to eye & Jesus spoke of that to.  Keeping my focus on Christ is my strength!  It has been hard to stay regular on RHM.  I come in waves.  Busy, here late to get house in order as today I go in for surgery on my left foot. Hereditary Bunion problems leading to pieces of bone taken out of toe to correct it all.  Third surgery over years.  It is big toe, second toe & little toe very sore.  Doc will look at it in surgery.  Pins & screw for big toe to keep it from moving per mentally.  That should do it.  Husband home til Sunday nite then back trucking.  I pray to manage while he sleeps over nite & home again.  Lean on Jesus for day to day for He is strong while I am weak.  Focus focus focus!  Blessings I love RHM.  You are my family and while later up hope to be here regularly & keep on track.  Blessings to you Dion & Sylvia...all is good!  Glad many are here to enjoy close family.

Pastor Dion, Thank you for sharing this message. We all have situations that have left us alone. Standing alone with my Father is where I would rather be. God removes people in your life that hinder your walk with Him. Even as the lonliness and doubt  move in sometimes leading to depression. I have to reach for my bible and devoitionals like this one. It keeps me on my path.... Again thank you for this blessing of your constant walk with God. Praise Jesus. With respect, Kathryn...
