White as Snow

  • 'Come now, and let's reason together', says Yahweh: 'Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land; Isaiah 1:18 WEB

I grew up in the country and always loved ATV's, four wheel drives, dirt bikes, off roading, and mud bogging. For a while, there was a small group of us that would set out at night on our ATVs and race through the mud, splashing each other every time that we got the chance to do so. Passing through swamp water deeper than the headlights, drowning out and being pulled back home, or being winched from a ditch were often a part of the festivities.

At the end of the night, you would have had less mud on you if you had just rolled in it, because it would splash and dry, splash and dry, and soon you wore a thick crust of dried mud that cracked when you walked. When we got finally got back home, you couldn't tell what race of people we were and we would have to wash in the yard with a water hose before entering the house to take a shower.

Some of us have done some spiritual mud bogging in our days and you can no longer tell that we were once a Christian. All evidence has been covered over now by a thick crust of mistakes, shame, and defeat. We begin to feel as if there is no way that all of that is ever coming off. All of our past builds up into a heavy burden and we will not turn to the One who can take it away because we feel that He is mad at us, or ashamed of us, but that is only a lie that the enemy wants you to believe.

Whether your sins are one or a million, the Lord will wash you right now if you simply ask Him. In one minute your entire life can be washed as 'white as snow.' God is not mad at what you have done in the past. He loves you, will give you a fresh start, and He wants you to talk to Him today.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for redeeming me, for buying me back from the enemy. Now I am Yours. Forgive me of the things that I have done wrong, cleanse me, wash me as white as snow and guide me from this day forth, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning, the event page for the second test evening for our live services is now up! Carol Pady Amen! Thank you for this message Pastor Dion. As many of your devotions this hit home! I can so relate to this. I used to be my worst critic. I couldn't let go of my past mistakes, sins, guilt, shame, etc. Then God who is all knowing led me to watch a movie. The movie was about a woman who had walked many simular paths to mine. It was uncanny how many things she had done I had done. I was soon weeping for her and I felt such compassion, unlike any I had felt before. When it came to the end, it left me hanging, it did not tell me if she had a happy ending. This spoke so deeply to my heart and that night I wept and thanked God for showing me that as I felt toward this woman, God had felt even more towards me. He had so much more love and compassion, that there was no room for condemnation. I was healed from my past that night. Now I am not ashamed of it, it is part of me. God will use it all for good and I have a heart that is not judgemental, or condemning because of it. I can relate to others struggling and walking down dark paths , I can respond with true agape love, because I have been there. Praise God, He is so good to me!
