"Don't be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you." Isaiah 43:1'2 WEB...
  • The Day of Small Things from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. As with many of my messages, this was a word for me, but I will share it with you as I found it encouraging. I have been building a new social media website for Refreshing Hope behind the scenes for months. It is a massive undertak...
  • Now after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of him into every city and place where he was about to come. Then he said to them, "The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send ou...

The Runaway

  • The LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A staff.” And he said, “Throw it on the ground.” So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent, and Moses ran from it. Ex. 4:2-3 ESV

Moses had a staff that he carried, and it was nothing special at the beginning. Then after meeting with God, it transformed into an object of power. At the same time that it grew in power, it also became something scary, and Moses ran away from it. After this the Lord called him back, Moses took the staff and set out to free his people from slavery. This time he knew how to handle it.

Sometimes the Lord will take something that you already have and turn it into something powerful, but at the same time it gets scary. The risks, the responsibilities, the pressure all can make you want to run away from it. Staying with it will cause the victory will come. The Lord rarely takes you around an obstacle, He will take you straight through the middle of it.

If there is something in your life today that you want to run away from, pray about it first. God was able to tell Moses what to do and He will tell you as well. If He does not answer, then it must not be important, but sincerely give Him the chance to. Don’t run away from what could be your calling without first asking His advice. Do not let fear rob you of a blessing.

Karen Pietrantonio
Karen Pietrantonio Thank you, Pastor Dion! Some days it is difficult to remember that God changes fear into victory, especially when answering the call costs us something dear. I needed this today. God bless you!

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield WOW! Just the other day, when I related some of the OT events to current trends, my social worker actually started to tremble and told me to leave because I was SCARY! LOL! Perhaps it's time I sought a Christian therapist!

Tina G FEAR = False Evidence Appearing Real OR Face Everything And Rejoice! Sometimes I can make something waaay scary in my head. 99.9% of the time its not real. If I pray about it and walk thru with faith and knowing God has my back I get to the other side joyously and have one more thing to give God the glory for!

Tiffany Polisoto
Tiffany Polisoto I am having trouble focusing on God. Trusting in him. I don't know if I really truly know how to. I feel the trust when I tell others to do so, but not with me. Sorry to be so personal but I began having a panic attack while taking a shower. I could not wait to get downstairs and back on the couch. I am grateful that God has brought me to this site, this community. I hope that I do not push anymore people away from my life.

Tina G Prayers for you, Tiffany. Being fairly new in my Christian walk, I can only share what happened for me. A big thing I think was finding a home church where the community helps me stay close and connected to God. They also help me grow and mature in my faith. They show me How as I discuss and share my questions. Its been my experience that God will meet us right where we're at. Even if its the couch! Ii hope you find what I found at my church. God bless you!

Carol Pady
Carol Pady I have found that fear comes hand in hand with lack of faith. If we stand firm with God believing He will withhold nothing good from us, fear has nothing to stand on and fear flees. In Jesus name there is great power. If we ask for anything in His name and believe we will receive it, we WILL RECEIVE IT!! God's Word is true, it does not return back void to Him. When we push fear aside and rebuke it and claim victory God blesses us richly. The more we do this ,the more our faith grows. This is how we become mature Christians, one prayer at a time.

Richard Mondello
Richard Mondello People, please don't give up living, trying, praying or on God. I've had my share of dark days, pain suffering, doubt, grief, depression and a period of my life not caring any more. But even though we all still have bad days, that's a given in this life; God knows, cares, hears, helps and answers. I plead with y'all just like I pleaded with my wife on one of her worst days during her illness. Please don't give up...Trust Him........

Ruth Martin
Ruth Martin I have been praying about a possible job that my Husband and I are going to apply for. I really want to do this job, that is why I have been praying and not just giving up. I really feel that the Lord is leading us towards this. But, yeah, it terrifies me to think of getting it. I have been on disability since 2005. It is a dream job because it involves driving cross country. And as much as I have always wanted to do this kind of job, because of my disability I am not sure. I'm still praying aqbout it. But all that is left is for my Husband to fill out His application so that we can fax them in. Any and all prayers will be greatly appreciated.

Jeanie Fleming
Jeanie Fleming Isn't it fantastic that we are able to see, through Pastor Dion and Sylvia's work that there are others in the world who have the same or similar issues in their lives that we do? The hopes, dreams, desires, fears expressed here by others make my life seem absolutley normal as my hopes, dreams, desires and fears are just like someone else's. Thank you Pastor Dion, Sylvia and our God in Heaven for this site.

Wendy Blake
Wendy Blake I often allow fear to keep me from doing things I know God is asking me to do.  I really need to pray on this and find a way to move past that fear and take that leap of Faith!

Betrina Whitfield
Betrina Whitfield Fear of the unknown is a beast....but Faith shall overcome it.....I agree with this Pastor Todd....There is a calling on my life and I see it in dreams and visions often...although I've been seeing this for about a year now; I still ask God "Are you sure your talking about me...Trina?"   Fear will certainly rob you because it is not a spirit of God....
