Let There Be Light

  • For you will light my lamp, Yahweh. My God will light up my darkness. For by you, I advance through a troop. By my God, I leap over a wall. As for God, his way is perfect. Yahweh's word is tried. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him. Psa. 18:28 WEB

Total darkness is the complete absence of light. In scripture it is associated with gloom, despair and terror as well as the normal meaning of no light. When you remove all light, what you are left with is darkness. Humans cannot distinguish color when it grows dark. As the light fades, colors become gray and eventually black.

One of the curses on Egypt was a darkness that could be felt. It was an oppressing, heavy, thick darkness, and no one even moved out of their spot for three days, but there was light in the houses of God's people (Exodus 10:22). It was the complete absence of light.

'Let there be light' was one of the first things that God did in Genesis (1:3). Jesus told the people: 'I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life' (John 8:12).

Life is fragile. As people, we like to think that we have it all under control, but I have been on top of the world and the very next day under it, felt crushed.

One phone call, and a darkness like this can settle over us, one that can be felt. The light of God's presence will drive away the darkness, just as turning a light on in a dark room. When the Lord lights your lamp, all the darkness falls away.

If your life is in a dark place today, look to the Lord Jesus. When you cannot seem to move out of it, it is He who will bring light into the darkness. He can meet you right where you are and His light can drive away the darkness and restore the color to your world. Jesus is the answer.

Prayer: Father, I look to You today. Bring Your light to my life and drive away the darkness. Fill me with Your presence, restore my hope and give me a fresh vision for life, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Kath Paro
Kath Paro Dion~  Thank you for helping me see where I was and where I am today.  A few years ago (2004 or 05) I was in the depths of worse than despair and darkness, I wanted to die and didn't care if I did.  I was at the brink of true suicide.  I had shut out the light of my Higher Power and was spinning down and down.  My God directed me to seek outside help and He brought me out the other side.  Today I shun the evil and seek the light.  If I have difficulty finding it, I pray and seek others who believe to help me away from the darkness and into the light.

Diane Symborski✝
Diane Symborski✝edited: April 24, 2016 Amen! Thank You Pastor Dion. <3 Beautiful. The darkness reminds me of my Christian Therapist. She's always taking abought light and dark. She always says Diane, i'm going to say something to you and you might not like it. Well by this time I know what she's going to say she forgets she says it to me many times. So this past visit she said Diane, I'm going to say something to you. Then she stopped and was thinking. I looked at her and said The Darkest Hour Is Just Before Dawn. I said Jennie, you tell me this everytime. I said you need to tell me something different. We was done she prayed over my husband and I. Walking out the door she grabbed me and said "Diane, I just love you so much as she smiled at me." She's so tiny and so stinking cute I just love her so much. I'm going to get well with the before she trys to get me again with the darkest hour again... lol I need lots of light that's for sure. Light and dark don't mix turn on the light Sweet Jesus, let it keep on shining down on me. Amen Thank You, Jesus. <3 Thanks again Pastor Dion, for your wisdom threw your daily devotions. Amen!!! <3

Diane Symborski✝
Diane Symborski✝ Cheryl, thank you for your king words. I know it will come itt's been over 4 years dropping medication. I went to the hospital because I wanted off of one medication for anxiety it stopped working. I come hom and they put me on six different medications. They was not doing any good I was a basket case. I will be dropping this weekendfrom 27 mg. to 25 mg. I am dropping 10% of every dose and wait 25 to 30 days. It's going to be slow but that's okay. It's better than bad with drawal. I see Jennie tomorrow and I can't wait. I'm not as depressed right now and doing things around the house. We was going to open the cottage on Saturday I want to wait until next weekend. I'm a little anxious about opening. Lasy year on May 30 was when they put my older sister's husband in prison for molesting little girls. H ewas around for 32 years and I told her years ago he was not right. So my  three sister have not talked to me because I would not lie for the older sister. I told them I don't lie and you know that. I told them all to go buy a bible and get right with the Lord. I'm ao much like my mother I even look like her twin. So because of all that last year i'm still a little in shock about this. They just had his hearing. He molested my older sister grand daughter and she didn't call her for over two months. I told her when it happen you need to call her she said I need to take care of selling the lake house and a lot more. I said you made money your god. It's sad but I have to live my life walking with the Lord so many don't think they need Jesus in their life. They really need to stop and think I pray for them buy keep a distance they're toxic to my family and I. I don't want that Jennie told me love them from a distance and pray for them. So that's what I do. They have cottages at the lake the oldest don't anymore she went back to Florida. They neighbors all tell me you was here furst and all that work you and your husband did to have a nice place. They said they would tie me down. lol I always think of the cross that over looks our cottage and ask God, there is a reason why we end up here. I'm not sure just yet but I know some of the reasons. The lady nevt door she lives there year round now. In 2006 her husband and daughter was shot by the daughter husband. She is very scared of many people. She would only walk to the property line. She now comes and sits on my porch and she saw the cross she was in awe. She blocked God out of her life. She wants a nice print of the cross. I think i'll have it framed for her too. She bought a book about the trinty. Shee's asking me questions and I love her so much. My husband and I help her a lot she became like a mom to me. I told her i'm going to name the cottage Cross Corner. We are on the corner and the cross that you see from my porch are in the front yard. I want people to asj why the name Cross Corner and i'll show them. I want it to go around the lake what we named our cottage. It use to be a rental and many know the cottage to be a  wild crazy rental cottage. I want people to walk by and ask questions about the name. I pray that will briing many to the Lord. I'm always thinkimg how I can get people to be saved. My mom was like that and I want to follow her lead walk with the Lord. Amen Cheryl, love you and thanks for the pep talk. Blessings! <3 If I made any typos it was the person behind me. lol I am in a dark bedroom with orange glasses on so it won't mess my sleep up. They say that it helps you and keeps your melatonin level up. Sleep in the Fathers strong loving arms. Night!!!

Cheryl Hepler Wow   Alot is going on for you!  Blessings.   A book titled, " the Cross at the Lake:, you could right.  God planted you there for the lady with terrible happening in her life.  I withdrew from an anxiety drug yrs & never forget how awful it was.  A few days went by before I settled down. Living for Jesus has family loses too not just friends.  It felt bad yet praising Him with nose in Word was the best prescription.  Nice chatting.

K K
K K Amen. I need that too right now as my body is failing me and I'm exhausted physically and emotionally in my job and life. And just in the past half hour a local pastor friend texted out group to say he was with a family whose daughter was going home to Jesus.  Five minutes ago he said she is with Jesus now. This was while I was lying in bed in pain watching my online live stream church.  His message was "don't give up on what you're doing, even if you want to" Gods not done yet.  My heart goes out to that family and my own spirit was touched by the encouragement to press on through my physical pain and not let the world seem dark when I'm hurting. Thank you for this message!
