Hide and Seek

  • You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 WEB

Most all of us have played 'Hide and Seek' before. One person counts and the others go and hide as best they can. When the count is complete, the seeker searches for the others.

When I became an adult and began playing it with the children, I would hide and the kids would search and search until they found me. If I hid in too good of a spot, I would have to give them hints, or make some noise so they could find me. If they stopped looking, well it just kind of spoiled the game. You didn't want to make it too difficult, it needed to be challenging according to their ability.

Our heavenly Father hides from us. It is up to us to seek Him out. He drops little hints here and there, and we most always find Him when we are close to giving up the search. Don't give up! Seek Him out. He will often be found in the places you least expect.

Jesus even hid His teachings in parables. He said to them, 'To you is given the mystery of the Kingdom of God, but to those who are outside, all things are done in parables, that seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand' (Mark 4:10).

Insincere people could listen to His teachings and not comprehend them, while His disciples could. It was an encoded message, and knowing Him was the key to understanding. We can read a passage from the Bible and feel like it makes no sense, but a quickening from the Holy Spirit comes and suddenly we understand it.

He conceals it, we seek it for it, and He reveals it. Jesus told us: 'I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened' (Luke 11:9).

Keep seeking, for you are closer than you were. Keep knocking, for He will soon open the door. Keep asking, for you are about to receive.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for giving me hope and pray that You build my faith. Help me see the big picture and where I fit into this puzzle. Walk with me and talk with me today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning :)! FAAD members, don''t forget that the weekly chat is happening tonight at the RHM chatroom! It will be an open night for fellowship and discussion. Have a blessed day, everyone!

Mark Duell
Mark Duell Amen. That's a different twist or perspective on Luke 11:9. I guess I have always looked at it from more of a physical/spiritual aspect or answeres to prayer. But when you stop and think about it, where do you get your answeres to prayer from half the time...scripture. I guess maybe a light bulb just got replaced in my attic that was burn't out! lol. Thanks Pastor for making us think.

Madalyn Myers
Madalyn Myers God I thank you for being there for me even on days where I wanted to give up. I thank you for the strength that you have given me and the courage to speak to people on the days that I did not want to talk to anyone. I feel that I had to learn patience and wait for God to open my heart. This has taken time, But I  glad that a lot of my prayers has been answered. Thank You to this Ministries prayer team for seeking God in my favour. Love to all have a blessed week.

Jeanie Fleming
Jeanie Fleming Good afternoon, Dion: Just reread Thursday's message and suddenly there was a bigger crack in that closed door.  Thank you for that message.  I am indeed closer than I was and I will continue knocking, asking, seeking definitely listening with my heart to His Word.  It is so amazing how sometimes, by reading a verse or statement again a few days after you read it the first time, there is a flash of understanding that wasn't there right away.  This is not the first time I have seen His words, but because I reread "your" entire message which included this: "Jesus told us: 'I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened' (Luke 11:9)." and this:  "Keep seeking, for you are closer than you were. Keep knocking, for He will soon open the door. Keep asking, for you are about to receive." which are your words: SUDDENLY THAT DOOR CRACK WIDENED FOR ME.  Finally!   Over the years I have been doing these things, still not understanding, but now I do.  Praise be to God for guiding me to your teaching, Todd.  This is one child of God who has gotten a great deal from the way you teach.  May He bless you and all your family more than you would ever dream of asking for.  Have a wonderful Sabbath tomorrow.
