Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, 'How long shall I bear with this evil congregation that complain against me? I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel, which they complain against me. Tell them, 'As I live, says Yahweh, surely as you have spoken in my ears, so I will do to you. Num. 14:26 WEB
Several times in my walk with the Lord, I have seen the idle things that I have spoken come to pass in my life. Sometimes very quickly, with both good and bad consequences depending on the words that I spoke. This is an Old Testament scripture, but I can assure you it is still valid today. The Lord, and others, listen to our conversation. Be careful of the words that you say, because someone may be listening.
Once the church we attended preached on giving so much that I began to feel nauseous. We decided that when an offering was taken, we would decide an amount to give immediately, and the longer they talked about it, the less that it would be. At the ten minute mark, it would finally reach zero.
About that time we sold a piece of property and had a large tithe from the sale of it. We were praying about where to give it. Finally we decided to give it to our church, but I told Sylvia, 'If they preach on giving this week, we will give it somewhere else.'
We went to church that Sunday and they preached on healing. I smiled and began to write out a check. Halfway through the healing sermon, the speaker suddenly paused, turned around, pulled out his wallet and said 'Sometimes you have to give it all.' Then he went into a twenty minute sermon on giving. I almost fell out of my chair laughing while voiding the check.
God listens to our conversation and He had rescued us from a mistake. That day He had someone else in mind for our gift and it soon became apparent to us. We blessed some other ministries and people instead.
Let the words that you speak be positive, encouraging, uplifting and not doom and gloom. Like a small rudder steers a ship, your tongue guides your life (James 3:4). Prophesy your bright future so that it will come to pass and do not speak curses over yourself and your family.
Prayer: God, thank you for the wonderful life that you have given me. I know that the plans that you have for me are good! With your help, this is going to be fun, simple, and easy. I am the one that You chose for this and with Your help I am going to be the best yet! In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
