I was amazed that I had been able to fix it. Of course, I didn't tell them that. This was decades ago, and I had just begun to work with computers as a hobby at night. The Lord had a plan, and He was pushing me into bigger and scarier things in that field. Computers were running DOS from a command prompt then, and I knew nothing at all about networking them. I had never actually seen a computer network.

One day, an insurance company called me. They had gotten my phone number from a friend and had twelve computers linked together. One machine intermittently stopped communicating with the others, and the original installer had gone out of business.

I wanted to tell them, "Sorry, I can't help you." But the Holy Spirit whispered, "Go, and I'll go with you." So I went and prayed all the way there: "Lord, I can't do this without You! Please come with me, or don't send me."

When I walked into the office, I was scared and clueless. The owner and I were standing near a filing cabinet while discussing the problem. As I listened to him, I noticed a small box with blinking lights on top of the cabinet. Today, I know it was a network hub, but it was just a box with wires and blinking lights back then.

For some reason, it drew my attention, and I began to inspect it closer. When I touched one of the wires on the back, a new light came on. When I let go, the light went out. That was the problem with the naughty computer, and in a few minutes, I had it fixed.

They thought I was a genius. Though I had never seen a computer network before, I had walked straight to the problem, repaired it, and was gone in about ten minutes. They were my client for the next fifteen years.

You could say it was a coincidence, but soon, I had over fifty clients like that. And this sort of thing happened every day for the first year of business. God would plunge me into things way over my head and then use my hands to fix them. It was Him and me working together in the field. After the first year, He began to do less, and I had to do more. He kept raising the bar. Yet, He was always there when I really needed Him. He always had my back. Still does.

God wants to be a part of your life. He wants to help you and push you into deeper water. Yes, it will be scary, and the water is deep out there, but when Peter walked on the water, Jesus didn't let him sink. This scripture is still relevant today. If you trust Him, God will make you ten times better than the others.
