Never Too Late

  • He said to Jesus, 'Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.' Jesus said to him, 'Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.' Luke 23:42 WEB

Two thieves were crucified along with Jesus, one on each side of Him. As they hung there, struggling to breath and slowly dying, one of the thieves mocked Him saying, 'If You are the Christ, save yourself and us!' The other, after living a life of crime and with only minutes left, humbly asked Jesus to remember him. Jesus did not have to 'pray' about it, but immediately told him, 'Today you will be with Me in paradise.'

Many times life slips by so very quickly and we mean to make things right, but time marches on. Eventually, we become caught in a trap and begin to feel that it is too late. We think there has just been too much water under the bridge, too many wrongs to be made right.

Could God really forgive us for a lifetime of sin, mistakes, and unbelief? Would God really give us a fresh start after all that we have done, even if we had only moments left in our life? Yes, absolutely! Isaiah told us: 'Come now, and let us reason together,' says Yahweh: 'Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool' (Isaiah 1:18).

Jesus will completely wash you as white as snow with His own blood that He shed for you. If you just humbly ask, even if you had only minutes left and have lived a life full of wickedness, He will still forgive you. All of heaven rejoices when someone who is lost turns to God (Luke 15:7).

Prayer: Father, I turn to You today. Guide me into all that You have for me. Forgive me of my sins, draw my heart to You, and lead me into an overcoming life on this earth, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Janet Clary
Janet Clary Todays devotional answered many questions for me.  I ask for forgiveness each time i pray and work on not committing the same sin over and over again.  I am but human yet I think there are some things that I am too harsh on myself about in this life.  I feel safe when I ask the lord for forgiveness and many times feel His loving arms wrap around me.  I read your devotional several times and it helps me to understand that its okay to be human and ask for forgiveness.   For many years, I have felt so guilty about being a recovering addict and alcoholic and every chance I got, I would feel enormous guilt and ask for forgiveness.  Since joining RHM, I know that I am human and a child of God.  This devotion shares with all of us that we are loved no matter what or how old our sins may be. Thank you pastor Dion for letting me know that forgiveness is just a few words away!  Love to you and our First Lady!  Hugs, Janet

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wylesedited: March 4, 2016 Amen Sister! I am so grateful for his forgiveness! While God has always walked with me there were times in life I certainly didn't walk his way, and I on occation still have to give some of those things back to God and ask him to not let me keep trying to own things that have been bought and paid for already! Me and my see-saw brain likes to ruminate over all that can't be changed but in my head I have 100 better responses I should have choosen! Thank God he knows my heart and has already forgiven me for all my mistakes and all that mental non-sense the enemy likes to torment me with and Thank his Holy name I know it's all just lies from the chaos maker himself so I may feel it... but I don't have to believe it!!! That's a choice I try not to choose;) Love and Hugs ~Dianna

Samantha Greer
Samantha Greer This is so very encouraging and moving. Sometimes people offend us one time and we are so quick to write them off but Jesus being offended often in severe pain and in his last hour still forgave. What an amazing example to follow. It's never too late.

Kath Paro
Kath Paro Thanks! I was thinking, how does this relate to me?  Why just last night I was struggling with the devil trying to be rid of deep denial in order to heal.  I was thinking, I know better than the doctor what to do.  Baloney!  I need to follow the people God has provided to care for me.  He knows better than I and His plan is the right one, not mine.  I had invited God into my thinking and attitude and the devil was once again conquered.  I cannot fight the devil without His help.  Glory to God! Amen!

Sylvia Todd Amen, Kath! I mean, I don't know if I would blindly follow everything a doctor says, but sometimes think we (meaning me :)) know more than we do about health, just because we can look up WebMD, haha. That is, until we have a convo with an actual doctor to school us on how little we actually know ;-). Praise God for providing us with the wisdom and people we need!
