Backs To The Wall

  • Moses said to the people, 'Don't be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh, which he will work for you today: for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall never see them again. Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still.' Exodus 14:13 WEB

Standing on the shore of the Red Sea with their back to the water, a group of unarmed former slaves stared out at the most powerful army in the world at that time, the Egyptians. Their enemy came upon them and were equipped with the latest weaponry as well as heavily armed chariots. While the Israelites were on foot, carrying their children and belongings.

This army had to be a terrifying sight for the Israelite families, but as they stood there Moses told them 'Fear not, stand firm. The army that you see today, you will never see again.'

Moses raised his arms and the Red Sea parted. The Israelites crossed over on dry ground and the Egyptian army followed them in, but the wheels came off their chariots and bogged them down. When all the Israelites were safely on the other side, the water closed over the Egyptian army and that was the last time that the Israelites saw them. When they needed it most, God came through for them.

Once upon a time our computer business dried completely up and after months of frantically seeking work, our finances completely ran out, and our credit card maxed out. The week that we prepared to move out of our home, while we were trying to decide what to take with us and what to sell, I went into my prayer room and sat down.

I no longer had the strength to pray anymore and I was all out of tears. Those days, I just kind of sat there in the quiet to gather my thoughts. I had complained to the Lord that He had abandoned me. I had been serving Him with my whole heart, soaking, laying on my face in prayer, fasting, giving, but yet things grew worse each day.

While sitting there that morning, without saying a word, the Lord gave me an open vision. It looked like a movie screen appeared before my eyes and I watched a scene play out on it. In the vision, the Lord told me 'You are not alone for I have prepared you for this, now get in there and fight!'

By the end of the week I was a pastor. Then a friend suddenly stepped in and paid our bills for the month. Almost overnight, everything had changed for us. It was a pinch yourself to be sure that you are awake moment. When we needed it the most, God came through for us.

When your back is to the wall, trust God. He is more than enough. Though it be eleven-fifty-nine on the clock, He will come through. Later when you are looking back, this will be a part of your testimony. Faith is tested by staring directly into the face of fear with no one to trust but Him. It may be rough for a while, but you will be stronger when you come out the other side.

Prayer: Father, I know that You have got my back. Nothing happens to me without You knowing it, and I don't understand a lot of things but I choose to trust in You. Deliver me from my enemies Lord. Set me free from my chains, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Kath Paro Dion~ Thank you for your powerful message once again!  I couldn't wait to see it and my prayers were answered, I got it during my time of solitude before my guys woke up.! This reminds me of our times of being very poor, God had our backs.  One day while helping with cleaning our church, Steve and I were discussing how we would pay for a necessary repair.  We had a gift from God, someone had place a hundred dollar bill in my purse!  Hallelujah !  During this time folks fed us and gave us money for gas.  God knew just when to give us what we needed.  I was blessed with a large sum of money and we have passed on our gift from God.  He has guided us so we do not spend unwisely.  What God takes if you have faith and follow His path, you shall get return tenfold.  This has happened with us.  I am so grateful for this reminder of the grace of God.

Mary Pat Taylor
Mary Pat Taylor Love this! So true!! And when a door seems to close, the Lord will lead you to something better.   I had been out of work for two years.  I had an interview with an account at the call center where I had worked before. Being a call center rep can be very taxng and stressful, and the last account I was on was that way for me.   Well, this account didn't hire me. For some reason I fumbled a little doing things I know how to do, like moving a window from one screen to the next on the computer.  Then at the end of Januray I got an interview for another account at the same company.  As always, I prayed a lot before the interview. This time everything went great and the team lead was very impressed with me and hired me on the spot! I started one month ago today.  And since then I have been certifed to work our tier 1 and 2 products, and being certified for tier 2 means good raise as well as being more interesting for me. This account is the most enjoyable account I've been on at this company. The people there are great and the calls haven't been as stressful as other accounts I've been on.  I don't dread going in to work like I did before, even though I do still come home very tired.  The Lord closed one door to open a better one. It's not a career like coaching was, but it is a good job that will get me back on my feet, and is amazing after dreading being back at a call center to have a postion where I my mind can be at ease going to work. Praise God!!!

Twila Stierwalt
Twila Stierwalt God wants to be involved in a relationship with me, and with my mind. What He allows in my life is to teach me to trust Him. ultamently it is for His glory, I don't have to understand it. It is for my good. God promised to give me hinds feet like a deer so I can go on the high places, and He will keep my feet from slipping. Some things I will never understand, but I want to trust in Him no matter what my circumstances are.

Johanna Myott
Johanna Myott My story is similar in struggle and victory. I was just handed the victory to my battle with Goliath. After 2 years of misery, prayers, fasting, tears, pain, hopelessness and desperation, the Lord just handed me the victory. Right now I am overwhelmed with emotions. I do not deserve His love and mercy. After so much pain turmoil ...I cannot believe he really just handed to me that easily. I'm in so much chock...I can't compose a paragraph. But I know that regardless of my troubles, and whether I deserved it or not, he will NEVER give up on His promises.

Kealtis "Key" Austin
Kealtis "Key" Austin I thank you so very much for posting this.  I feel like my back has been against the wall for some time, and I know that God is able, especially to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that I could ask, think, or pray for.  It just seems that nothing, whatsoever, is happening.  I know that God has a plan for me, and I know that He's getting ready to bless me.  I just needed the strength to stand still and see His salvation.
