Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. I know how to be humbled, and I also know how to abound. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:11-13 WEB.
I grew up on a farm in the country, but I have always had a passion for computers. I never actually owned one because we were poor, and they were expensive at the time. Sometimes, I prayed for one of my own, but God did not give me a computer as He did with others.
Instead, I started "attracting" computer parts like a magnet. Even in the country, somehow, the pieces began to find their way to me. I gathered a motherboard, some memory, floppy drives, and a copy of DOS. Eventually, I got a power supply.
Finally, the day came when I had almost enough parts for a computer, but I had no case to put it in. So I grabbed a cardboard box, cut some holes in it, and built my first computer. An Intel 8086 clocked at 5 MHz with dual 5 1/4" floppy disk drives.
Though it was quite a sight to behold and one of the slowest ever made, to me, it was perfect! It helped shape my future, and I still use the skills I learned daily. God gave me a computer, but the real treasure was learning to assemble it. Eventually, I ran my own computer business, which led to an online ministry, but it all began at that workbench.
So many times, if I had gotten what I prayed for, it would have been detrimental to my growth. I would not have learned the things I needed to prepare for the future. God knows the end from the beginning. He knows what is best for you in the days to come. Relax and trust His timing. Sometimes assembly is required for you to grow.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please provide what I need to grow and give me a fresh vision of the plan you have for me. I want to be a part of what You are doing today. Help me get in tune with You. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
