The Waterfall

Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls. All your waves and your billows have swept over me. Psalms 42:7 WEB.

Moments before, the water had been quiet and still as they drifted down the stream in their raft. They lazily relaxed in the warm sunshine and missed the low roar growing in intensity. They realized too late they were quickly approaching a waterfall. Their lives flashed before their eyes, and they began to panic, for there was no escaping it now. Loudly screaming, they plummeted over the edge, entirely out of control. But then splashed down into a surprisingly tranquil pool at the bottom.

Have you ever felt things were going great, but you could hear the sound of a waterfall ahead? It is terrifying to see the end of your world coming at you, and there is no way to get out of the boat.

Oddly enough, this is the way God usually brings us a promotion. What looks like the end of your world is actually the start of a new era. The way up in the kingdom is often down. The greatest among you will be your servant. Going over the cliff will rocket you up another. Still, it is terrifying when you see the cliff edge coming at you. Things will look a lot better once you have passed through it.

If you hear the sound of the waterfall ahead, brace yourself for the ride of your life. But remember: This will work out for your good in the end. It may shake things up, but you must go over the waterfall to progress to the next level.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know this will work out for my good. You will get me through this. I will come out a better person in the end. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
