Circling The Mountain

  • Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea, as Yahweh spoke to me; and we encircled Mount Seir many days. Yahweh spoke to me, saying, 'You have encircled this mountain long enough. Turn northward.' Deuteronomy 2:1

The Israelites wandered forty years in the wilderness while God worked out some differences with them. Twice when they were circling a mountain, there came a point when it was time for them to move on.

God told them in Deuteronomy 1:6, 'You have lived long enough at this mountain. Turn and take your journey.' Again in Deuteronomy 2:1, 'You have encircled this mountain long enough. Turn northward.'

Many times we will huddle around a mountain in our life, circling it. We cannot move on because of __________. It affects everything that we do and we cry out for God to help, but you cannot steer a parked car. It needs to be moving.

We meet people all the time that are trapped in a bad situation because they cannot let go of something. They are caught like a fish that will not let go of the hook. Eventually there comes a time when they get tired of circling that same mountain again and again while just growing older, and they make the change. It is just such a struggle to let it go.

If you want to see something different in your life, do something different. If you have been trying to make a peach cobbler for years, but it always comes out as apple, it is time to try a new recipe. It may be time to stop circling this mountain.

Give God something to work with today. Leave the mountain behind you and do what you have been putting off. Turn and take your journey.

Prayer: Father, please give me a clear vision on how to change my life for the better. Help me overcome the obstacles that are holding me back. Set me free from this endless loop and help me break out, and break through, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning! The highlighted group of the week is Count Your Blessings - God blesses us each day with the air we breathe, with new opportunities to shine His light to those around us, with time to know Him better, and so much more! This group is a place to take a bit of time each day to thank God for the blessings He has granted us! ALSO, the FAAD group will be hosting a fellowship night as their chat this week in the RHM chatroom. It will take place at 7pm EST on Thursday!

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles AMEN! I Am trying! "Give God something to work with today. Leave the mountain behind you and do what you have been putting off. Turn and take your journey." I am on my journey and in waiting for my next step as I can't even see that one but I need not know the whole journey to take one step! Standing in prayer & faith daily, while it is a long and wearing wait, it's the only thing worth waiting for. I know God is guiding me and I am praying I am not missing the message! Thank you for your encouragement and words of wisdom. Pastor's Prayer: Father, please give me a clear vision on how to change my life for the better. Help me overcome the obstacles that are holding me back. Set me free from this endless loop and help me break out, and break through, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Deleted Member Amen, Dianna, even if we have to take baby steps to move forward, that is okay too, because we know that it will all be in God's perfect timing for each of us, because He loves and cares for us so much. Love, hugs and prayers.

DJ Greenawalt
DJ Greenawalt I have circled this mountain far too long.  I'm tired and ready for victory, my rightful inheritance.  God has a plan, not to circle but to move on from this wilderness.  Help me trust, obey and give up this anger, hurt and bitterness so I can move forward with everything God has planned.

Mari Kaufmann
Mari Kaufmann This message is so true for my life. My husband and I planned to move to Florida. My daughter sidetracked us with her drug addiction leaving us with four children none of which want to move. My wonderful Charlie died this past July and although I love these kids I would still love to move to Florida.  I'm stuck circling this mountain that my conscience won't let me leave. I'm praying my daughter comes to her senses soon. Amen.

Cheryl Hepler Listening... sounds like you have a lot going on. The loss of yr husband too.  Even grieving takes time.  Hearing what God has for the four children too.  I have given God a lot to him even children when clearly there was no.more I could do.  His hands are big, His altar is filled with love & understanding where He spoke & showed me why I needed to let go of the things I held in my heart or people or plans.  He then showed me the next step.  I soo want His way that I didn't budge till I knew that I knew.  Not my desires but His.  Blessings Mari!!
