The Word Came to Me

Jeremiah said, Yahweh's word came to me, saying, Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you, saying, "Buy my field that is in Anathoth; for the right of redemption is yours to buy it." So Hanamel my uncle's son came to me in the court of the guard according to Yahweh's word, and said to me, 'Please buy my field that is in Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin; for the right of inheritance is yours, and the redemption is yours. Buy it for yourself.' Then I knew that this was Yahweh's word. Jeremiah 32:6-8 WEB.

The Lord told Jeremiah, the prophet, to buy his cousin's field. Jeremiah called what he heard "the word of the Lord." Then his cousin came to see Jeremiah and offered to sell the land to him. So Jeremiah said: "Then I knew that this was the word of the Lord." Jeremiah bought the field as the Lord had told him. Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice" (John 10:27).

Once after my wife Sylvia and I had been fasting for seven days, we planned to break it at noon. That morning we were praying in separate rooms. Like anyone else, on the last day of a fast, we were already planning our lunch menu and thinking about the rest of the week or month.

While I was praying, I suddenly felt that we should extend the fast to ten days instead of the seven we had planned. We had already been shopping. I was hungry, and I silently thought, "Get thee behind me, satan."

When we came out of our prayer rooms and sat down at the table to talk, Sylvia said, "I think we are supposed to fast for ten days." Like Cain, "my countenance fell." She had heard the same word I did. I looked at the clock, and it was 10:10 on the 10th of the month. The number ten appeared everywhere.

We gave in and continued to fast for another three days. The first seven days had been easy, but the last three were very difficult. It was like we were wrestling with something. We were. It was a breakthrough, and at the end of the ten days, we began to see real miracles happen.

We went to a family Thanksgiving dinner, and it suddenly turned into a prayer meeting. They asked us to pray for them. So we lined them up, and they would crumple to the floor in tears. Painful relationships where people had not spoken to each other in years were mended. When we prayed for people at church, you had to hold them up, for they nearly passed out. It was a major breakthrough in our life, and it brought a fresh influx of power from the Holy Spirit.

When you feel like God is speaking to you, He will often confirm His word with signs around you, then a door opens. If it happens to you, go for it, for the word of the Lord has come to you. Jeremiah heard that he should buy the field, then without mentioning it, his cousin came to sell it to him. So he bought it!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for speaking to me in a way that I understand. Please lead me into all that You have for me on this earth. I give You permission to work in my life. Open the doors, and I will step through them. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
