The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" He answered them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, But their heart is far f...

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me; declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done; saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure; Isaiah 46:9'10 WEB.During a sci-fi n...

I have said these things to you, while still living with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you. The Button

  • The high priest, Ananias, commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth. Then Paul said to him, 'God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit to judge me according to the law, and command me to be struck contrary to the law?' Acts 23:2'3 WEB

Paul did not appreciate being slapped in the face. Where Jesus had faced crucifixion without complaining, Paul went about it a different way. Later he learned to turn the other cheek and to be content in what ever circumstance that he found himself in (Phil 4:11). It was a growth process and it took time, and being slapped now and then.

Each of us have 'buttons.' Something that someone does that really sets us off. We often say 'I can't help it!' but really it is just a weakness, a flaw in our character and is just like a handle on a pot. By pressing your button at the right time, people can get you to commit acts, get into trouble, say stupid things, and do things that you normally would not do, as if they had a remote control for your body.

Pray, grit your teeth, think happy thoughts. If you submit to God and resist the devil, it will flee from you (James 4:7). Eventually the button will cease to work in your life. I have many buttons that no longer work when people press them, though a few still do.

Prayer: Father help me to see the traps that are before me and to control my emotions under pressure. I want my life to be pleasing to You, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning and happy Monday! The highlighted group of the week is Creation Photographers: This group that seeks to show the glory and beauty of God's creation through photography. That vision includes the beauty of things created by man, because God created us and put His spark in each of us! ANY level of photography skill is welcome and all are invited to join and enjoy!

Mark Duell
Mark Duell Even though I fail in comparison to Pauls spiritual walk I have always said I have the personality and character of Paul. I to am slowly changing but the kids say thats because I'm getting old and soft. I pray though that I react as Christ would want me to react. With His love and compassion. Going beyond the sin and find the hurt or lost soul.

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles AMEN!AMEN! Oh man! So true! I have buttons and they go off! I left my job because I did not like the buttons that kept getting pushed! I did not like the me those buttons sparked. I want love in my heart and I was not love when those buttons were pushed. God said "You can't change others you need to leave and change you back to the God loving person you want to be" I said Ok! Prasie father for saving me from all those buttons I didnt want pushed anymore!!! At first I looked at this as me taking the cowards approach but the more I thought and healed the more I realize I did much prayer about it and I was lead by God to leave so I have no regrets for tucking tail and listening to my answer I had prayed so hard for. He said it's time for something new and fresh!  Now I spend my days in peace searching for a new job and taking pictures everyday. I smile more, I stress less, Life is better and in time God will lead me to that perfect spot just for me to  help provide income for my family. Sure I get a little worried when I can't pay a bill on time but then I remember God lead me here and he will lead me out while providing all the way. I'm gonna be ok :) Thank you Pastor for all your timely reminders not to stress and just be blessed!    Pastor's Prayer: Father help me to see the traps that are before me and to control my emotions under pressure. I want my life to be pleasing to You, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Twila Stierwalt
Twila Stierwalt This is so true, If I respond in love to those who want to harm me, God takes care of the rest. It is my choice on how I respond to others. I am so glad that God knows me better than anyone else and He gives me the strength and wisdom to love my Christian life to please Him, It might not please my enemies,  but, they are not who I am living for. My God gets the glory in every thing.

Karen Pasquinelli
Karen Pasquinelliedited: January 11, 2016 Amen!!  We all have buttons and I have only been able to get rid of a few, there are other buttons I am still working on.  One of those buttons is when years ago someone said something about my mother (she was no longer with us) I lost it.  It was a customer we had while working at a storage company.  We found out he stole an empty unit and told him he had to take the stuff out of his and leave.  He brought a friend back with him, came into the office and started arguing with me.  I held my cool until his friend said something about my mother and that is when I lost it.  It took all I had not to jump over the counter and pull that guys hair out of his head.  My husband happened to come back into office and saved the day.  That button I know is still there.  Takes a lot to get me angry, I am usually very calm, but don't mess with my loved ones.

Kathy Banfield Isn't it funny how the people we are closet to recognize all our buttons? I have plenty of triggers in my own life, but I'm working on eliminating them. Thanks so much for today's devotion! It really hit home for me!
