Sacrifice from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When Jesus came walking past the disciples in their fishing boat late one night, Peter called out to Him and asked if he could join Him and walk on the water.  (Matthew 14:28–31 NKJV)  And Peter answered Him and said, "Lord, if ...

When they couldn't pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most?" Simon answered, "He, I suppose, ...

Take Another Lap

  • The cock crowed the second time. Peter remembered the word, how that Jesus said to him, 'Before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times.' When he thought about that, he wept. Mark 14:72 WEB

Peter had just finished telling Jesus that he would die for Him, and then denied that he even knew Him three times in a row. Sometime later Peter mastered this fear as he was crucified by Nero upside down, because he saw himself as unworthy to be crucified the same way that Jesus was. He stopped denying the Lord, and did die for Him just as he had promised.

We do not face the weaknesses that we have just once, but multiple times, until we master it. It is not 'once clean, always clean' either. I have seen people fall right back into something that they crawled out of more than once. If you lose your temper every time someone does something, you will face that something time and time again.

A good friend of mine called it 'Taking another lap around the mountain.' Just as Israel spent forty years circling a mountain in the wilderness, we can spend forty years of our life circling the same mountain.

Learn from the things that upset you. Be on guard, for sin crouches at the door. When you feel it coming, face it with a smile and the right attitude. Pass the test and when you beat it, chances are that you will never have to face it again. Or we can take another lap.

Prayer: Father I tire of facing this same problem again and again. Forgive me and give me the grace and wisdom to deal with this once and for all. Guide me and help me make the right decisions. Give me a clear warning when the test is coming, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning, happy Friday! For those who are participate, or wish to join in, the weekly "Fast & Pray Friday" event will be contending for their unsaved loved ones with their annual "Sunrise to Sunset" fast today. Participating in this event is determined by each member. You may choose to fast until sunset or just from one activity until sunset. You may choose to fast one meal and to just pray the prayer videos posted on the event page. Choose whatever you may. God will hear our heartfelt prayers as we come before His throne and place them there. If you wish to be part of this fast, whether today or each week, please join on the event page! If you have any problems joining, just comment on the devotional today and we will help you :-).

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles Yep! I have been around that mountain a number of times on the issue of forgiveness. I get hurt easily and have a hard time of letting it go... I have improved but I keep revisiting the same issue so I must need more practice! Thank you for your wise words! Pastor's Prayer: Father I tire of facing this same problem again and again. Forgive me and give me the grace and wisdom to deal with this once and for all. Guide me and help me make the right decisions. Give me a clear warning when the test is coming, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen!

Norman Glaze Sr
Norman Glaze Sr Good Stuff Pastor. A lesser man would have worn his knees out making laps around the mountain such as I have, lol. Even after being so mercifully, and wonderfully, and miraculously Born Again, I found myself slipping right back into the destructive things that I had Gracefully crawled out of. Sin(Demons, Flesh, Familiar Spirits)truly does crouch at the Door, and eagerly waits to rob us of our walk with God. Thanks for the Great Message Pastor Dion.

Dorene Glaze Good message this morning ..Reminds me of a particular problem I couldnt conquer, going round and round, finally I got in the word and used the scripture ..confess your faults one to another that you may be healed ..I found me a couple of safe people to confess to and after awhile I noticed I wasnt being tempted as often and when I was I had the strength to resist and one day it was not a problem anymore, every now and then i'll be tempted again but I say no ,im free!

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield WOW!! This message sure hit home to me! For 40 years, I had been enslaved to an eating disorder that manifested itself as anorexia, then bulimia and exercise bulimia. It really seemed as if there was no way I could conquer the demons...and I was right. I can't conquer anything without God! By His grace, I am no longer in bondage to food.
