For there is no distinction, for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Walking on Water from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the importance of believing the Lord, of shaking off the naysayers and continuing on your own journey. People have a tendency to not want you to go where they have not been. Leaders cannot lead you, where they h...

Out of that terrible travail of soul, he'll see that it's worth it and be glad he did it. Through what he experienced, my righteous one, my servant, will make many 'righteous ones,' as he himself carries the burden of their sins. Therefore I'll reward him extravagantly' the best of everything, the ...

The Giant Killers

  • David therefore departed there, and escaped to the cave of Adullam: and when his brothers and all his father's house heard it, they went down there to him. Everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented, gathered themselves to him; and he became captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men. 1 Samuel 22:1 WEB

King Saul became extremely jealous over his son-in-law David and his endless victories. He felt that David was after his throne and that the people were beginning to support him. As Saul grew more and more bitter, he finally went berserk and tried to pin David to the wall with a spear. So David had to leave town, find somewhere safe for his parents, and he went and stayed in a cave.

David was the original Robin Hood, an outlaw that king Saul wanted dead. Soon all the people who were outcasts, the black sheep, the unwanted, the bankrupt of the area, gathered to him and became a small army of four-hundred men. Later it grew to about six-hundred men (1Sam. 25:13).

David saw something in them and he turned this group into 'mighty men' that would do anything for him. They became valiant fighters who never lost a battle. Some of these were a match for a hundred men, while the strongest were a match for a thousand.

They became giant killers just like their leader David. Elhanan killed Goliath's brother (1Chr. 20:5). Three of the men once heard David longing for water from the well in Bethlehem, which was occupied by an angry philistine army. They broke through the enemy lines and got it for him (2Sam. 23:15, 1Chr. 11:17).

No matter where you stand today, or what you have got yourself into, God sees the potential inside of you. With a relationship with Him you can become so much more than you ever dreamed. You have not even seen the true potential that is inside of you until He reveals it. God will make your failure become a victory, and no one can stand before you, when God Almighty is behind you.

Prayer: Father I surrender to You. Here I am Lord, use me. Teach me what I need to know. Help me find my proper place, where You want me to be. Fulfill Your will in my life, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Mary Pat Taylor
Mary Pat Taylor This touches me deeply because I never feel like I am good enough.  The Lord is teaching me that it doesn't matter if I am or not, because He loves me enough to make the dreams He gives come true.  Still waiting for doors to open. It's especially hard at Christmas, feeling emotionally and spiritually alone. Not completely,  I have God and my animals, but sometimes it would be nice to have other humans around to talk to and relate to.

Nancy Cavataio
Nancy Cavataio It's a blessing to know that a church can be a mix of all kinds of people, spiritual leaders, seekers, new believers, the sick, the weak, and even 'misfits' and He accepts us all and gives each one of us a chance to grow in faith and become overcomers. This is a topic that has been on my mind over the last couple of months. I'm not surprised anymore that many of the topics Pastor preaches on are on areas of my life that God has been working on. :)

Sharon Peterson
Sharon Peterson This story of David reminds me of our situation here in America.  We need a Godly leader like David and turn this Nation around.  If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hearfrom heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Cheryl Hepler Good story...While I read it I thought of how Jesus brought together all outcasts, homeless, poor etc to build a mighty army that then would go in battle to fight the enemy...the Giants.  So grateful Jesus called & called me.  Greatful I went where he called to meet Him in all His grace and awake as the veil lifted.  Praise to you, Lord!!

Shawna Bradford
Shawna Bradford Thank you for this message that I so needed to hear today. I believe that God has placed me where I am right now in my job but I feel like I don't have the courage to fight the battle at my workplace and I dread the negativity that awaits me when I walk through the door. I am trying to be salt and light but being middle management, I feel I am being crushed on both sides and wonder often if there has been some mistake with me being in this role! I am so grateful for the job and the income and I know this is a gift from the Father, especially when many struggle to find work but nonetheless, I feel that sense of dread when it's time for me to start my work day. Thank you, Pastor Dion for shedding a new light on how God sees us and our hearts. I go not to serve man but to serve my Heavenly Father and no matter what agendas others have, He is in control and has a good plan for me and can work through me! God bless your ministry and the work that you and Sylvia are doing! What a blessing to so many! Thanks for the inspiration to get up and go! :)
