In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It's a ghost!" and they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying "Cheer up! I AM! Don't be afraid." Peter answered him and said...

Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" He answered them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, But their heart is far f...

Barren

  • Isaac entreated Yahweh for his wife, because she was barren. Yahweh was entreated by him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. Genesis 25:21 WEB

Rebekah was barren and could not have children, but when her husband Isaac prayed for her, she became pregnant with twins. If you read the details, Isaac was forty years old when they got married, and he was sixty when the twins were actually born.

I doubt that Isaac waited twenty years to pray for his wife. My guess is that Isaac prayed for her and then waited, just as his father Abraham had to. Isaac was a miracle baby himself, and Abraham and Sarah waited a long time for his birth.

Twenty years is a long time to wait, and I am sure that Isaac and Rebekah had both about given up on this ever happening, and probably forgotten even praying the prayer. But God had not, and in due time, it came to pass.

Whatever you are struggling with, pray about it. There is nothing wrong with doctors, but do not neglect the examples provided for us in the Bible. 'The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous man is powerfully effective' (James 5:16).

The impossible is possible with God. The past is not a picture of your future. Pray, believe, and experience. Signs 'follow' those that believe, they do not come in advance.

Prayer: Father You know my needs before I ask, but there are a few things that I want to share with You because You told us to pray. (Tell Him what is on your heart). Thank You for hearing me today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Mark Duell
Mark Duell Amen. This devotional really ties in with the birth of our granddaughter. Our kids along with the entire family did a lot of praying for this special gift from above. They had difficulties and tough couple of years of ups and downs. Unlike Isaac though who waited much, much longer for his prayer to be answered. Now we are all praying for the next miracle. Our other kids have been foster parents for some time now. The 2 boys they have, have become so loved by the family. They have had them since they were born. We are praying that the Lord will officially make them a permanant part of our family.

Mark Duell
Mark Duelledited: December 18, 2015 1) "I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better” (Ephesians 1:17 NIV). "I keep asking" Also I've seen it said that you continue to pray till the following: The answer comes, or The circumstances change, or God changes the burden on your heart. This is just a laymens quick answer. But I do know Pastor Todd is very knowledgable and practices fasting and praying. He also has done a study on it.
