In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It's a ghost!" and they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying "Cheer up! I AM! Don't be afraid." Peter answered him and said...

Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" They have Been with Jesus

  • Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13 ESV

The disciples of Jesus were mostly uneducated fishermen, but later people lined up in the streets wanting even the shadow of Peter to fall on them (Acts 5:15). There is certainly nothing wrong with an education, but if turns you away from God, then you would be better off without it. There is a wisdom available that is greater than what man can teach you, and it is gained by spending time with Jesus.

I grew up in the country, on a farm, but learned computer programming by prayer and practice, without books. It was something that I really wanted to do. Anytime that I have ever been stumped, spending some time in prayer reveals the way to fix it. Suddenly I know what the problem is. You can call it inspiration, coincidence, or my imagination. All I know is, I have a problem that I don't know how to fix, I pray about it, and soon I do.

Don't be discouraged if you want to do something, however impossible it may seem. If you have a strong desire for it, and you know that it is what you want to do with your life, take it to the Lord in prayer. He has the answer and can make it happen. Spending time with Jesus will make you smart.

Prayer: Father, please anoint me and reveal the gifts that You have placed in my life. Guide me into the place that I am supposed to be, in the name of Jesus.

Deleted Member Brother Mike, you are an inspiration to my life. I admire you so much, you are facing such storms in your life physically, but you are so strong in The Lord and you give me hope in knowing that no matter what, Jesus is with us all the way. Thank you for this beautiful and heartfelt testimony. It brought tears to my eyes, just knowing how strong you are standing up for Jesus through all that you are going through, you, Brother Mike are a true inspiration and I know that Jesus is going to let this sickness be used for good to help others come to know Jesus as their Savior and I believe that through all this that healing will come to you. I pray for you cancer to be gone and for all the nausea and any other sickness or disease that you are facing, I pray healing in Jesus Name. Love and hugs. God bless you.

Valerie Fields
Valerie Fields Amen Pastor Dion! I can attest to this message on a personal level! I am in school now studying to get my BSN. I am 52 yrs young and my mind is not as sharp as it used to be when it comes to the books :-) GOD has truly brought me through this program! I have straight A's and a couple of A-'s. I only have 2 more classes to go and I will be done.  Recently I had to do a video on one of the authors in my English Lit class. I had no clue where to start or how to put it all together. I am not technically inclined at all! I prayed about it and the ideas just started to pop in my head! It was as if the HOLY SPIRIT was doing the project and I was just sitting there watching....LOL. I received a 100% on the video and a 95% for the overall class! My instructor left me a very nice message saying how impressed she was with my video and what a pleasure it was having me in her class!  I told her it had absolutely nothing to do with me and that I GIVE GOD ALL THE GLORY, ALL THE HONOR AND ALL THE PRAISE!!!

Chris Dibbern
Chris Dibbernedited: December 11, 2015 Sadly, I learned computer programming by brute force while still a teenage atheist. My parents counted that as wasted time, yet, God eventually brought me to Christ through a friend, and eventually, that time learning took me through a master's degree in Computer Science (I now work at that University--the U of I--as a programmer). People who knew me and my grades in High School were blown away that I'd even finished undergrad. I'd never planned to do a masters, but God lined up all the pieces, and when I went to talk to the Chair, I was asked if I wanted to start the next week! God works in your life, even while you don't believe it. The time behind the computer wasn't wasted, nor was my time as an atheist (though I regret it, deeply). Even atheism was used to burn away false arguments--in the same way that forest fire fighters pre-burn certain perimeters--not only for me, but those around me. Also, I am not sure... but He may not be done with my education, yet. I tried going back for a Ph.D. but it was like all hell resisted me, not intellectually--the first class was fun, actually--but just in conspiring circumstances. At the end of it, I heard "do not go into the wilderness," and understood it to be the Ph.D. program. I am in another trial right now, so I suspect He didn't want me compounding trials. Anyway, the professor for that course told me that a class project I'd suggested in place of the default (which was a Sudoku solver, which I'd already made in a previous course) he thought would be impossible, given the time constraints. The Lord showed Him it wasn't. :-) Dion, or any other coders, here, if you're curious, that course project is here: https://github.com/cdibbs/folproof. I may still work on it, in my spare time, actually. I want to expand it, and rewrite it in TypeScript.
