The Wine Press

Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together! I sought the LORD, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. Psalms 34:3 ESV

David was now in the enemies' camp and surrounded by the relatives of those that he had killed in battle. Saul had intended to kill him in order to preserve his kingship and David had to get out of the country quickly. He crossed the border and entered the Philistine town of Gath hoping to hide from Saul. Gath appropriately means 'the wine press'. David was now out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Not long after this the people began to talk about David: 'Is this not David who they sing about? Saul has struck down his thousands, and David his ten thousands?' David was under immense pressure, so much pressure that he started to act like he was mad (1Sam 21:13). They finally let him go and David then wrote Psalm 34. This poor man cried and the Lord heard him and saved him!

The man who slew bears, lions, and Goliath was pressed like a grape until fear came to the surface. He was taken to the edge of his faith and it looked dark and hopeless, yet God delivered him. No matter how big your faith is, God is able to stretch it a bit further. His tests scale infinitely. Still, He is always there to deliver you in the end. Will you trust Him while in the wine press? It is amazing what comes out.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, strengthen me and help me serve You today without shrinking back. Let Your love and peace cover me, in the name of Jesus I pray.

Note: For those who are participating in our Creation Photographers theme of the week: Good Morning Creation Photographers! I've noticed in the last few weeks that there is not much activity on our group page'are we still inclined to want our fun themes or should we take a break from them for a while? Looking forward to group input here :). 1 John 4:7 "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." ~ 'Reflections of the Father's Love' will be our next fun theme. Our themes are always open wide for creative interpretation and you are encouraged to post anything else that inspires you as well. My photos this week (in the group) are of some nice reflective shots I have recently taken (I liked how the owl looked like he was reflecting about his day). Have a wonderful week y'all, and let us not forget to love one another! God bless! Here is the link: Creation Photographers
