My savior, you save me from violence. 2 Samuel 22:3 WEB.David sang this the day the Lord delivered him from all his enemies. Where others saw nothing, David could see the work of the Lord thr...

The Pen And The Crackers

  • Therefore do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear? For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:31'33 ESV

One of the sweetest testimonies that I ever heard was from a missionary visiting our church. While on a plane heading to the mission field, she dug through her purse trying to find a pen to make notes with, but she could not find one. She was also hungry because she had not eaten before the flight, and they did not serve food on the plane. She normally carried a pack of crackers for such a time, but had none with her.

The missionary had brought along one Bible to give away, and when the plane landed, she started looking for a native to give it to. Finally, she found a woman that she could communicate with and offered her the bible. The woman burst into tears and explained that she had been praying for a Bible for one whole year. The woman then reached into her purse for money but explained that she only had a pen, and a pack of crackers which she handed to the missionary.

If it matters to you, it matters to God. The small things in your life that you would not pray about, He knows about. When we get wrapped up in ourselves, we miss so much of what He has to offer. Place the Lord at the center of your life and these things will automatically happen. He has the pen and the crackers waiting.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I seek Your face and a deeper relationship with You today. I know that You will take care of my needs and fulfill the desires of my heart. Lord I put You first, in the name of Jesus I pray.

Valerie Fields
Valerie Fields Amen! Thank you Pastor Dion once again for these words of encouragement. I often feel like the widow at Zarephath who Elijah visited. The bills are much longer than my money!  Some days I just don't know how I am going to make it to the next however I am learning to lean on God more and more and I relaize that it is not my battle, it's the Lord's!! Just when I think the jar is empty..... Somehow when I reach in .....there seems to be more to grab!  God has shown me on a daily basis that HE IS STILL IN CONTROL and that I have no need to worry or fear!! I hope my testimony will help someone else to hold on just a little bit longer.  He will never leave us nor forsake us!! THANK YOU JESUS HALLELUJAH!!!

Dorene Glaze
Dorene Glaze Amen,This was a reminder to me of how God cared for me when I was 17 yrs old living in rainsville Ala. going to church in FT Payne Ala. I had been saved for 2 yrs and moved from Ohio with my sister to attend the church on the mountain in Ft P ayne I didnt have any money to put in the offerings when at church and I really wanted to give so I decided to walk the 11 mile walk to town and back to pick up pop bottles along the road , back then it was like picking up cans today only each bottle had a cash in value of 5 cents each ,so I picked up alot of bottles and cashed then in for the offering .I did this several times and one day it was pretty warm out as i was walking ,I got thirsty and on my back home I was wishing I had a coke or something to drink ,then as I walked further up the road I spotted a full unopened bottle of coke laying on the side of the road in the grass ,it was still cold and the bottle was wet from sweating ,I was amazed and knew it was God but still amazed at how it could be but i drank it and praised him for the miracle .                                                                  .

Carol Pady
Carol Pady Amen! I remember how I was looking out on my patio deck and wishing that my flowering plants would start blooming again.  I was going through a difficult time involving my adult children. Fiery trials had come against them. I just thought if I just could see one flower it would lift my spirits. The very next day I opened my curtains and lo and behold there was one beautiful yellow daylily, that bloomed over night!

Deleted Member That is truly a God Moment, when He sends you something, that you so needed, so that you would know and see that Jesus is right there with you, and your family through all the storms of this life and that even when the flowers seem dead, as the song goes, (Roses will bloom again, just wait and see, God knows how and when, that Roses will bloom again.)Love you so much.

Carol Pady
Carol Pady He is better than good to us, I can not possible put it into one word. Our Father's love is amazing, He cares about the smallest details in our lives. It is so hard to understand that my wonderful Almighty God cares for me. The Creator of this beautiful universe has time to spend with me. He has time to bless me and show me that He loves me. Who am I? I am just one of many many Christians, yet He can make me feel like I am special to Him. It blows me away at times!

Deleted Member Pastor Dion and Sylvia, I just want to thank y'all again for letting God use your lives to touch so many. This devotional and prayer was exactly what I needed today. I find myself in the human form, worrying about things that I know I can't do anything about or feeling like I just don't know which way to turn or how to handle some things. But Jesus has never failed me, not one time, He always supply my needs and He always was right there with me. He has never, ever failed me, even though in my human form I get worried, I still know deep inside that Jesus see's it all and He will come, right on time.

Judy Cole
Judy Cole This story reminds me of my story.  Not long ago, my daughter bought a new car.  To make a long story short, we cleaned out my garage to put her new car in.  One day I came home from getting groceries.  I had to get out of the car, open the garage doors, get back in the car, drive in, get out and close the garage.  I was just talking to the Lord like I was talking to a friend.  I told Him, "You know, Lord it sure would be nice to have an electric garage door opener, especially when it's raining."  Period, end of conversation.  A few weeks later, my daughter's uncle called, wanting to know if she was taking good care of her first new car.  He and her grandmother had been talking and decided to each pay half to surprise her with an electric garage door opener!  Praise God!  I had not asked Him for this.  I was just talking to him as my friend! I will never forget that gift!!!!
