He caused me to pass by them all around: and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and behold, they were very dry. He said to me, 'Son of man, can these bones live?' I answered, 'Lord Yahweh, you know.' Again he said to me, 'Prophesy over these bones, and tell them, 'You dry bones, hear Yahweh's word. The Lord Yahweh says to these bones: 'Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you will live.' Ezekiel 37:2 WEB
Ezekiel stood in the valley, surrounded by dead, dry bones. What was left of a great army was now scattered about the ground and lying in the dust. All the life was gone and now all that remained were the bones. It was a bleak picture of hopelessness. God told him to prophesy His words over them. Ezekiel had to feel this was a hopeless situation, but he obeyed and when he did, the bones came back to life.
Facts, faith, and feelings, have to line up in that order. Facts are the word of God, which is living and always relevant. Our faith is demonstrated when our mouth and actions line up with the word of God. Finally, our feelings must fall into their proper place, at the end of the line and the least important of all. We can become hooked on feelings of doubt, unbelief, self pity, and fear. They grow into mountains that we cannot see past. Sometimes we have to let those go in order to move on with God. Facts (Word of God) first, faith second, feelings last.
You cannot reverse this list and put your feelings first, then expect to live an overcoming life. If you feel like God does not love you and then begin to act like it, while ignoring what is written in the Word, then you have reversed the list. You cannot measure how much God loves you by your feelings, for they will lie to you. We have to stand on what has been written in His word.
Also do not speak your feelings if they are negative, for your own words will be used against you by the enemy. James 3:4 tells us: 'Behold, the ships also, though they are so big and are driven by fierce winds, are yet guided by a very small rudder, wherever the pilot desires. So the tongue is also a little member, and boasts great things. See how a small fire can spread to a large forest!' Be sure to keep your speech positive.
Prayer: Heavenly Father please set a guard over my lips and make me aware of the things that I speak. Help me to keep my feelings in check and to trust You completely. Restore my hope, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
