I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalms 32:8 NIVRecently when the Lord was ready to start something new in our life, He started closing out the old. Of course we panicked, tried giving more, praying more, fasting more, serving ...

Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send out from the same opening fresh and bitter water? Can a fig tree, my brothers, yield olives, or a vine figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh water. James 3:10 WEBHot, ti...

Give thanks to Yahweh with the lyre. Sing praises to him with the harp of ten strings. Psalm 33:2 WEBWhen I ran my fingers across the strings, I knew instantly that this was the most beautiful sounding instrument that I had ever picked up, and that I had to have one. It was a Fender twelve string ac...

I See Nothing There

  • And Peter answered Him, Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water. He said, Come. So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. Matthew 14:28'29 ESV

Waves splashed against the side of the boat and the light of the moon shone across the water as Peter and the other disciples stared at Jesus, thinking that He was a ghost. When Jesus told Peter to come, Peter stood in the boat and looked at the water, but there was nothing there to be seen, except for the water, and Jesus standing on it.

All of his common sense and experience as a fisherman told him if you step out there, you will drown. The rest of the disciples knew it as well. Everyone knew better than to try to walk on water. Peter pushed these thoughts out of his mind and took a tentative step. Before his foot touched the water, it became solid and supported him. Though he could see nothing there, when he stepped out in faith, there was something there to catch him.

That is living faith, obeying even though it looks impossible. Matters of faith are rarely understood by the mind. Once you say, 'I cannot do that', you have prophesied your own future. All the heroes of the Bible spoke positively and in faith. Joshua commanded the sun to stand still (Joshua 10:12) and it did. Elijah commanded it not to rain and it did not for three and a half years (James 5:17).

We are to work together with God to accomplish His will on the earth. He may ask us to do things that we do not have the means to do. At that point, He will provide whatever is needed, though we may see nothing there. It will be there right before your foot hits the water.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me see the unseen. Help me believe and build my faith, in the name of Jesus I pray.

Note: Good morning! Thank you all who prayed for us as we got through the hurricane here in SC. Praise God, we made it through intact and pray for all who are still dealing with Joaquin and its aftermath. Also, the FAAD Live Chat this week will be led by one of our wonderful members, Beverly Boyd! Bev will be teaching on "Building Relationships", so don''t miss out! It will be held on Thursday (10/8) at 7pm EST (6pm CST /5pm MST /4pm PST). Just click on the "Chat" link on the site menu and click on the "Browse Chatrooms" button to find the FAAD room.

Tavii Martin
Tavii Martin Needed this on this morning! My heart is broken by the one I love. I feel God telling me to move but don't want to divide my family. Even though after 6yrs and major struggling together we are not married I still feel like I cannot give up on him. He acts as if he has given up. Jokes about everything and completely blind to my pain. He isn't working and seems like he doesn't want to. I feel so confused and hurt! I love this man! I want my family to make it!

Marisa Jackson
Marisa Jackson Amen, Alleluia!!  God is able to make the impossible possible, all we have to do is believe, trust him always and have faith.  These are the things I tell myself everyday; though I may slip and even fall, Giod is there to catch me or lift me up.  That is the best blessing ever

Mary Pat Taylor
Mary Pat Taylor Again, so fitting for my life right now! I see nothing to help me but I know I have the Lord.  I have to chuckle at the part where you point out saying "I cannot" is predicting your own future.  When I was coaching figure skating, one rule I always had for my students was to never say "I can't". I told them they can say it's difficult, or I need help with this or more practice with this, but never "I can't", for just the reason you state.  :D

Deleted Member I pray I can always have the faith, that Jesus would be please with, but when I'm down and it looks impossible and the human in me, says I can't, I will hear Jesus say, Yes You Can.

Kim Dalton
Kim Dalton First, I want to say what a blessing RHM daily emails are! I love this story/lesson about Peter's faith; back in March, 1979, I was in a car accident. The brakes failed in the truck I was a passenger in. At the time, I had been reading a book, "Miracles ARE MINE IN '79" by Oral Roberts. In it, he used this story of Peter walking on the water to Jesus, and when Peter started to doubt, he began to sink...I broke my neck & was paralized from the neck down in the accident; BUT I KNEW I would walk again, I KNEW God was going to heal me & He did! There were other things that occurred before the accident that I realized were meant to build my faith just when I would need it most...I wasn't supposed to ever walk again (according to my neurosurgen), but I did!! Praise the Lord!!    Thank you & God bless this ministry.
