For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little. Isaiah 28:10 WEB.We had scattered pieces all over the table while we worked on assembling a jigsaw puzzle. It was a total mess. This one was mysteriously difficult, for someone had mistakenly...

The Twelve String

  • Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! Psa. 33:2 ESV

It was the most beautiful sounding thing that I had ever picked up. Even just running your fingers across the strings sounded wonderful and full. It was a new twelve-string acoustic guitar, a deep red sun-burst, and it was in perfect tune. It was as pretty as the sounds that it made, and it was difficult to make it sound bad.

But later, as it got played and went through temperature changes, it became out of tune, and what a change that was. Now when you strummed, it reminded you of cats fighting and you could not make it sound good. After taking some time to tune it back up, it sounded wonderful and full again. It just needed to be in tune.

So it is with our lives. When in tune with the Lords plan for us, life is beautiful, full and we are a joy to be around. But after being played for a while by others, we can become flat and make irritating noises that no one likes. The way back is to get in tune with the Lord again today by getting somewhere quiet and talking to Him. It is the Lord Jesus that beautifully tunes us, polishes us, and cares for us. With Him, we can become something beautiful. The very best version of ourselves.
