Do Not Be Dismayed from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about becoming “Dismayed.” To be dismayed means “to be downcast, disappointed, disheartened, filled with terror.” It replaces hope and will lead you to a dark place. We become ineffective and...

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:2 WEBMy Dad was born during the great depression in the early 1930s...

But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth. After my skin is destroyed, then I will see God in my flesh, whom I, even I, will see on my side. I Have Made You Worthy

  • Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through Me. John 14:6 WEB

When people around me started praying for someone, I would shy away or stand quietly by. If they really had their eyes closed and were praying the way they should have, they would not have noticed me anyway. I always thought, If they really knew me, they would not have asked for prayer.

I never felt good enough to pray for others. When I was asked to pray, it seemed that all the things that I had ever done wrong in my life would come to remembrance at that exact moment. It was a real faith killer. One day while I was contemplating about these feelings, the Lord spoke back and said basically: Thats right. You will never be good enough to pray on your own, but I have made you worthy. It is through Jesus that we are made worthy to come into the Lords presence. We know these things and hear them, but many times it is only in our head, and not in our heart.

We come to the Father through His Son Jesus only. If we walked into His presence without being washed in the blood of Jesus, we would disintegrate on the spot. We are not the way to the Father, Jesus is. When you feel you are not good enough to pray, you are right in a sense, but God has made you worthy through His Son Jesus. Your past no longer matters.

When you say that you are not good enough to pray, you are placing yourself in the place of Jesus and thinking that you will talk to God using your own righteousness, which in my case, would not get me very far. Without Jesus, we are nothing and all of our righteousness is as filthy rags (Isa. 64:6). With Him, we are as white as snow (Isa. 1:18) and can pray boldly (Heb. 4:16). Jesus is the way to the Father, not us, and your past has nothing to do with praying. He does want to hear your voice.

When given the opportunity, pray for others boldly. Speak out in faith thanking God for what He is going to do in their life. Lift them up, encourage them and speak blessings over their life. We are His hands and feet on this earth and He will use us to reach those around us. We cant help everyone, but everyone can help someone.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for letting me pray for others. I ask that You give my spirit boldness and help me stand strong for You when the opportunity comes. Speak to me and through me Lord and give me the words to encourage others, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles Thank you for this message. I love to pray for others but often wonder what to pray. Mostly I sit, pray & try to listen for Gods words to come to my mind, after all he already knows the problem... and his words are a much better comfort than mine would be :) I love the prayer today! Thank you again

Deanne Rascas
Deanne Rascas I feel that God spoke directly to me in this message. I have pray fear in a group of people. I forget what I am saying and feel others are judging me on how well I pray. During a cell meeting I felt so intimidated by the long and eloquent prayers that other people said. When it was my turn, I became stage fright that I couldn't think properly! I broke out in tears and embarrassed myself so much that I refused ever to pray again in a group! That was 10 yrs. ago and I still don't participate! I pray all the time at home or where ever I am but with less formality. I want to pray with others but am having a hard time getting over my fear! I feel this message from Pastor was put here for me by the Holy Spirit. I need to step out of the boat!

Cheryl Hepler So true...I just plainly didn't feel good enough any where with anyone.  Praying very much the same.  The Lord's words are so filled with power.  As the disciples were told to wait for the Holy Spirit shows where He wanted us to have the Holy Spirit. off to church

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield I MUST print this devotional! This is a "must-read" for people like me who feel useless and not worthy to even receive  God's blessings. It's Satan that whispers those lies to me, and when I'm feeling frustrated, tired, hundry or in pain, I start listening to that snaeky old devil. Thanks so much for reminding me of the truth, Pastor Todd!

Diane Casey
Diane Casey Hi Kathy, its good you recognize the tricks of the enemy, he always oppose anything that is righteous. The enemy may whisper lies to us, but we don't act on or follow that negative path. He even tells us that we are not worthy, the Devi, Is a liar and the father of lies. You be blessed and encouraged.

Carol Pady
Carol Pady Thank you Pastor Dion!  When God called me to pray for others, He empowered me with the compassion of Christ! I pray not because I am righteous, but because He is righteous and He dwells within me. I  pray through His Spirit not mine!

Diane Casey People come to me at anytime asking me to pray for them, when they say,"pray for me" I tell them I will do it, but they mean right then and there.  when different ones ask me to pray for them, I always do, but privately, either as I walk away or in the car etc, I sometimes don't know what to say, I always ask the Holy Spirit to give me what to say. But I know I have to get self out the way. thank you for this devotional, very enlightening. God Bless you and yours.

Carol Policastro Peridocally I get in a depressed state.  I very often feel unworthy and I have many to pray for, myself included.  Thank you Pastor for hitting me with a 2 x 4 to know that through Jesus - my prayers matter.  I just have to be still and wait on the Lord.  AMEN
