Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward. The tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." But he answered, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of God's mouth.' " Matthew 4:1-4 WEB.After several months out of work, the days counted down until we began packing to move out of our home. Meanwhile, on the other side of town, someone else came into work each morning with a nagging feeling that they should hire a pastor but put it off for another day.
Over twenty years ago, the Lord told me that I'd be in the ministry one day. So I graduated from seminary, but then all the doors seemed closed. I had long since given up on ministry and started a business working on computer networks and building websites. But when the time came, our business suddenly dried up, and we found ourselves out of work.
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, the day came when the Lord told them that they needed to hire a pastor TODAY. It was an urgent request and came the day before we prepared to leave the state. So they posted a help wanted ad looking for a pastor with computer and website building skills, thinking no one would answer.
As we were getting ready to leave home that morning, I had a sudden urge to check the job lists again. Within fifteen minutes of his posting, I saw the ad, replied to it, and we hit it right off. By Friday, I was a pastor, and I began using the skills the Lord had prepared me with along the way in ministry.
After years of waiting, suddenly, I was now living His promise. It was all through very subtle promptings that would have been easy to miss. That nagging feeling that you should do something, both for them and for me. So don't give up when things take longer than they should, for God is always working behind the scenes. When everything lines up, His promises come to pass.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that you give me a clear vision for my life and correct my path as needed. I submit to Your guidance. Please use me, Lord. Come and be a part of my day. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!Note: The FAAD group members (Fight Against Anxiety & Depression) today is"Feel Good Friday!". This event is about lifting up each other up!
