Then Mordecai asked them to return this answer to Esther: "Don't think to yourself that you will escape in the king's house any more than all the Jews. For if you remain silent now, then relief and deliverance will come to the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Who...

In the same hour, the fingers of a man's hand came out and wrote near the lamp stand on the plaster of the wall of the king's palace. The king saw the part of the hand that wrote. Then the king's face was changed in him, and his thoughts troubled him; and the joints of his thighs were loosened, and ...

One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, "If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!" But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Don't you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds, but this ma...

  • t happened in these days, that he went out to the mountain to pray, and he continued all night in prayer to God. When it was day, he called his disciples, and from them he chose twelve, whom he also named apostles Luke 6:12 WEB

After a busy morning of phone calls, texts, and a lot of emails, the inside of my head felt like I was standing in the middle of a busy intersection. It was noisy in there. I really needed to hear from the Lord and to write something, but I could only hear noise. I finally withdrew to my prayer room leaving my phone behind and after some quiet time and prayer with the Lord, I could hear once again. Yes, I am an introvert but I believe that everyone could use some quiet time with God and the Bible. It sets the tone of the rest of my day.

Jesus often withdrew to be alone with God. Though people followed Him everywhere and pressed in to hear Him, though many people depended on Him and doing Gods work was important, Jesus still made spending time with the Father alone a priority in His life. Jesus was the Son of God and still He had to do this in order to stay in tune with the Father.

On the morning that He chose His twelve apostles, Jesus had spent all night in prayer (Luke 6:12). There are many references where Jesus withdrew from the crowds, at times taking His apostles with Him and teaching them alone. Sometimes they would get into a boat and leave for a deserted place (Matt. 14:13) where the crowd could not follow them.

We should not allow the hustle and bustle of todays life make us spiritually deaf. God is not demanding or rude and He will not normally force His way into your life. He often speaks to us but it may be a small nagging feeling or something subtle, and if your head is in chaos you will often miss Him. In quietness and trust we will find strength (Isa. 30:15).

Find somewhere quiet and peaceful where you can be alone with the Lord, if even for a few minutes. Get still, maybe read your Bible. Pray and listen. That small whisper can change your life, and may save it. Dont let the commotion of life rob you of the greatest part of it.

Prayer: Speak Lord, for I am listening. Teach me and I will learn. Lead me and I will follow. I want to live everything that you have for me Lord. Break these chains off of me today and set me free to serve you in the name of Jesus Christ.

Cheryl Hepler Welcome Leigh! Seeing your name for my first time.  I have raised five children.  Two mine and three in next marriage.  I spent a lot of time in my bedroom crying out to God for one or two or more depending how all was going.  I had a Pastor's wife for a counselor.  She would always say Do good & trust God!  We would visit again and the same after all said, ado Good and Trust God!  Great advice yet still I returned and returned to my knees in my bedroom praying...just letting it all out.  I wondered, am I doing good for what I see or feel doesn't look that way!  Someone said that often the praying was for me more so as to get it out and let it go to God because the powerlessness was altimately in front of me.  Blessings to you as a mother!  I believe it is a tough job for it is so close to the heart.

Shelby Casey Thank you Lord for Pastor Dion and all those at Refeshing Hope Ministries that remind us that if we want to be close and hear from you Lord we have to be in the Word and in prayer. I thank you Lord for my time with you Lord even if it is just when I take a joy break. Thank you that we can come to you at any time and any where. Thank you Pastor Dion for spending time with the Lord so that you can be renewed and complete the tasks that the Lord has set out for you to do to minister to His people.

Beverly Hagar-Schmerse
Beverly Hagar-Schmerse Thank you for this message.  Some time ago, I realized, also, that this is what Jesus did, so I try to do this...particularly, when I am visiting someone who is sick or homebound...but have also, done this before going out to lunch with friends.  It is amazing how many times, God has used our time together to help them in ways, I on my own would never have thought of...For instance, today I visited an elderly woman in an assisted living home...I have visited her weekly since spring, so we are quite well acquainted...however, this is the first time she told me that she was there because she fell and broke her hip...and that she feels useless.  We talked about that, and I was able to interest her in an art class held there by a younger paralyzed woman who was a former teacher.  She knows to the younger woman, and now wants to take the class...I know both women...I can't wait to see what God is going to do in the life of this woman who had really given up on life.  When we pray, and give our day over to God to do with it what He would, He will fill it with grace-filled moments that will amaze and delight us.

Cheryl Hepler
Cheryl Hepler I just picked up my Jesus Calling by Sarah young.  In closeness to Me, you are safe.  In the intimacy of My presence, you are energized.  No matter where you are in the world, you know you belong when you sense My nearness.  Ever since the Fall, man has experienced a gaping emptiness that only My presence can fill.  I designed you for close communication with your Creator. How I enjoyed walking in the garden with Adam and Eve, before the evil one deceived them! When you commune with Me in the garden of your heart, both you and I are blessed.  This is My way of living in the world....through you!  Together we will push back the darkness,  for I am the Light of the world. I read your devotion and read this and it all melted together.  I said, Jesus, it is sad You lost the enjoyment you delighted in of walking in the garden with us.  (Adam & Eve)  Isn't it neat that soon we will be with You forever!  My heart feels sad for Your heart.  I love walking in the garden & elated we will do that in eternity!  I also love thinking on a garden in our heart that You and I are so blessed.  So intimate beyond all intimacy I could think of...WOW! If any of you haven't read Jesus Calling ...it is good!  Years ago I lived in God Calling.  In those years I was in a growing in Jesus time and sucked up all I could get.  Now I saver the food/time when reading His Word.  I always say Lord, I need to soake in your Word.  A desperate need from certain factors drives me to be intimate with Him. Blessings to each of you this holiday weekend and safety if you are traveling!

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield The reason I like riding buses (I don't drive, so I depend on public transportation) is because I can chose to sit way in the back, and I can pray in relative solitude. Yes, as my "sig line" says, a day hemmed in prayer will never unravel. We all need quiet time alone with God, because that's when we can hear Him speak to us!
