When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean." Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be made clean." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matthew 8...

Hope in the Dark from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. How can you have hope while living in a dark time? When you feel like what you are facing is so powerful, all you can do is pray. Many before us did, and we can learn from their examples.  First, if you read the New Testament, you'l...

Then the devil took him into the holy city. He set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, 'He will command his angels concerning you,' and, 'On their hands they will bear you up, so that you don't dash your foot against...

The Birds And The Trees

  • See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they? Which of you, by being anxious, can add one cubit to the measure of his life? Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don't toil, neither do they spin, yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. Matthew 6:26'29 WEB.

The ants crawling along the ground always have plenty to eat. So do the squirrels running across the tree limbs, birds and bees flying through the air, and the fish swimming in the sea. They are all taken care of by God. Grass, plants, and trees are rooted in place and can't move a single step. Yet, they are taken care of by God right where they are.

Everything in nature does their part as they are able, and God takes care of the rest. He puts what they need within their reach. Even if they are immobilized. We have a huge oak tree in our yard that has never taken a single step from where it was born, and it is probably a hundred years old.

The birds of the air are taken care of one day at a time. There may be a drought or a famine that will affect them for a while. Yet, being their species isn't extinct means they have been taken care of pretty well for a very long time.

It's always us who start to panic when it doesn't happen fast enough. So many times, I've been concerned about tomorrow, only to find that when it got here, everything was fine. God took care of it somehow. Look back over your life and all you have been through, yet you are still here today.

I'm not saying there haven't been times that lacked our wants. Times of having less than I wanted to have or felt I deserved. The Lord knows that we have seen the unemployment line more than once, but we have never had to go hungry. There was always something to eat and something to wear.

David said, "I have been young, and now I am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread" (Psalms 37:25).

So don't panic. Don't get anxious about what you think may come. Don't let your fear snowball into something that blocks your view of God. He knows your needs, and you mean much more to Him than the birds of the air, which He also takes care of. He created us in His own image. When the need comes, so will the answer. Just continue to do your part each day, and trust that God will provide what you need within your reach.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for providing for me. You are so good to me, and I want more of You in my life. Lord, cover me in Your peace. Please touch me today and let me know that You are there no matter what I face. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

I honestly think the feral cat colony I maintain views me as God! I provide them with food, water, shelter. Even the butterflies and birds seek out my pollinator garden. Yet everything is only possible because of God's providions to me. We are truly connected.

Thank you for today's devotional!

Thank you Father God for everything I have, I know that everything I have is from you and apart from you I would have nothing and be nothing. You are so good to me and I do not deserve any of the many blessing you have given to me. Father please make me more thankful for everything that I have. Help me to be kind to strangers and give them a dollar or at least a smile. Direct my path in your will for my life in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
