For the thing which I fear comes on me, That which I am afraid of comes to me. Job 3:25 WEB
As we worked to get the fish hook free of my eye lid, an actual calmness came upon me. The greatest fear of my life was now behind me. I grew up on the rivers of South Carolina fishing and I always got nervous about people swinging their fishing lines around. I dreaded the thought of them snagging me with their hook.
One day while out on a boat, there was this older lady that must have thought that she either fly fishing, or lassoing the fish. She was whipping the line around her, oblivious to everyone else in the boat.
I was sitting behind her and eventually, as my fear would have it, she snagged my eyelid with her fish hook, and then swung to make a long cast. I grabbed the line in my hands, stopped her, and for a moment the thought of wrapping her in the anchor rope and sinking her right there came to mind, but I pushed it away.
My Dad was there and came to help remove the fish hook from my eyelid. It turns out that my greatest fear, was not all that bad. From as far back as I could remember I had dreaded the thought of having a fish hook snag my eye, and now it had happened and was over. I have been there and done that.
Fear is faith in reverse and draws, even causes, your greatest fears to actually come to pass like a magnet. Job had a fear that something would happen to his children and constantly sacrificed for them. It still happened. I had always had a fear that a fishhook would catch me in the eye, and it did.
Your greatest fear will not be as bad as you think, and your heavenly Father will be help you through it. Look to God, pray, and do not become immobilized by fear. The more that you focus on the fear, the more power that you give it. God did not give us a spirit of fear (2 Tim 1:7). Also, be careful of who you let in your boat.
Prayer: Father I pray that You will deliver me from fear. Take away the panic, the anxiety, the fear within me and replace it with Your peace. Help me see You clearly and understand that You are truly stronger than all. When You are for me, who can stand against me? In the name of Jesus I pray.
Note: Happy Sunday! I pray you all have a blessed day, and give thanks to all who have been here for this ministry. Today, we have a note from one of our amazing and faithful members, Beverly Boyd: "What if tomorrow comes and there is NOT a message from the Lord from Pastor Dion. Will you miss this ministry in your life? I know I most certainly will. If you are able, please show your support in whatever way God has placed in your heart. Your time, talents, and/or financial support are needed to grow and advance the Lord''s work. God will bless you more and more. "Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7 ~ Beverly."
