Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth your hand now, and touch all t...

You see then that by works, a man is justified, and not only by faith. In the same way, wasn't Rahab the prostitute also justified by works, in that she received the messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead. James...

My Greatest Fear

  • For the thing which I fear comes on me, That which I am afraid of comes to me. Job 3:25 WEB

As we worked to get the fish hook free of my eye lid, an actual calmness came upon me. The greatest fear of my life was now behind me. I grew up on the rivers of South Carolina fishing and I always got nervous about people swinging their fishing lines around. I dreaded the thought of them snagging me with their hook.

One day while out on a boat, there was this older lady that must have thought that she either fly fishing, or lassoing the fish. She was whipping the line around her, oblivious to everyone else in the boat.

I was sitting behind her and eventually, as my fear would have it, she snagged my eyelid with her fish hook, and then swung to make a long cast. I grabbed the line in my hands, stopped her, and for a moment the thought of wrapping her in the anchor rope and sinking her right there came to mind, but I pushed it away.

My Dad was there and came to help remove the fish hook from my eyelid. It turns out that my greatest fear, was not all that bad. From as far back as I could remember I had dreaded the thought of having a fish hook snag my eye, and now it had happened and was over. I have been there and done that.

Fear is faith in reverse and draws, even causes, your greatest fears to actually come to pass like a magnet. Job had a fear that something would happen to his children and constantly sacrificed for them. It still happened. I had always had a fear that a fishhook would catch me in the eye, and it did.

Your greatest fear will not be as bad as you think, and your heavenly Father will be help you through it. Look to God, pray, and do not become immobilized by fear. The more that you focus on the fear, the more power that you give it. God did not give us a spirit of fear (2 Tim 1:7). Also, be careful of who you let in your boat.

Prayer: Father I pray that You will deliver me from fear. Take away the panic, the anxiety, the fear within me and replace it with Your peace. Help me see You clearly and understand that You are truly stronger than all. When You are for me, who can stand against me? In the name of Jesus I pray.

Note: Happy Sunday! I pray you all have a blessed day, and give thanks to all who have been here for this ministry. Today, we have a note from one of our amazing and faithful members, Beverly Boyd: "What if tomorrow comes and there is NOT a message from the Lord from Pastor Dion. Will you miss this ministry in your life? I know I most certainly will. If you are able, please show your support in whatever way God has placed in your heart. Your time, talents, and/or financial support are needed to grow and advance the Lord''s work. God will bless you more and more. "Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7 ~ Beverly."

Faye Figlewski
Faye Figlewskiedited: August 30, 2015 I have a son who has trouble with self esteem and addiction; I walk around in fear all the time that he will go back to the horrible life that endangered him and kept my heart twisted all the time.  When I read this message this morning, I could feel the tension relaxing...please pray with me for him.  He struggles but he is a man of faith and one of the best people I have ever met.  He is my youngest.....I remember, and remind myself to remember, God loves him even more than we do.  I just said that to his wife this morning.  Thank you for praying with me for him and his family. It is such a wonderful time of year, my favorite, getting a wee bit cooler and the promis of fall in the air!  Makes you happy to be alive. Thank you for the message today.....my biggest fear is that he cannot be well, that he will self destruct and your message spoke to me, God is great.....

Deleted Member Precious Jesus I pray over Faye's son and his family, please give them a peace and let things become brand new just that the beautiful season she talked about, let her son be delivered from the fears and additictions, that have taken hold upon him, release them and let them no longer trouble him. Give him peace where there has been sorrow, joy where there has been sadness and hope where there has been non. I claim a complete deliverance over his mind, body and soul in Jesus Name we pray and we believe to hear great things for this young man and his family. Please touch and comfort Faye, let her know that You, Jesus are right there and she has nothing to fear. Love and prayers, Tamara

Cheryl Hepler
Cheryl Hepler Hi Faye,  welcome to RHM!  Blessings to you & yours.  I come from addiction family, married into one, divorce then and married my wonderful husband who's x wife is  drug addict.  One step son I help raised became an alcoholic.  It was a death reading when he was arrested.  Lots happened in that arrest that kept him in prison.  He is walking with the Lord sober over a year.  The truth is that he is totally in God's hands where my two are.  All five are.  It is a good place to put them for when I finally did years ago my fears were in His hands also.  Much peace yet I pray as my husband for them. Being in the addiction world taught me a lot about me which was the biggest work that happen.  Always things to work on with the Lord.  Again Blessings to you!

Carol Pady
Carol Pady Thank You for your timely words. Sometimes I become fearful for the backslidden and unsaved in my family. I toss and turn and my spirit is greatly troubled. Then someone, or something reminds me that if I have the faith of a mustard seed and believe it, I will receive it. Today your devotion and my church service fed my spirit. I  claim victory over all wayward and lost. Me and my whole household shall be saved!

Lizz Evans
Lizz Evans Amen, this was a timely devotional for me and I received the encouragement needed to press forward.  I especially received the phrase " fear is faith in reverse"!  This will cause me to recognize when I allow the enemy to use my mind to cause me to fear.  In Christ Jesus I should be bold and fearless.  No weapon formed against me shall prosper.  It will be easier for me to stand on that after reading and receiving this message today.  Thank you now it truly is a "Happy Sunday"  on my way to Sunday School now... Be Blessed in the Name Of Jesus!

Julie Schneider Once again a great message!...and delivered with humor! I think there is a double message here...you have to forgive the woman but you dont have to let her in your boat again!  I sometimes get hung up on forgiving someone but I still need to keep them at a distance. Thanks for another great message!

Karen Pasquinelli
Karen Pasquinelli Amen!  Ouch, that fish hook had to hurt, thank God you were able to grab the line. The only fear I have is a fear of heights.  We stayed on the 24th floor one time in a hotel and even though there was glass I still was very careful when I looked at the few.  The only time I remember not even thinking about my fear was when my daughter was about 5 or 6 and we drove up a mountain road, stopped to see the view and my daughter decided to run to the edge, I never ran so fast in all my life and grabbed her up in my arms, I was afraid she wasn't gonna stop.   When I was a teen I went on roller coasters once, was so afraid on them I couldn't have any fun so I won't go on them and haven't in over 45 years.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield OH!! I felt a sharp pain in my own eyes after reading today's message! Isn't it amazing how God calms us during moments like that? When my right hand was mangled and partially severed, I felt no pain at all---at first! I went into a calm shock and could only wonder who was going to feed my horse that night! I really believe God protects His own! Thanks for sharing this incredible story with us today!

Albert Chau
Albert Chau Our greatest fear is indeed like a magnet and causing us to gravitage toward it until it finally happens. In pastor Dion example, it might be unknownly to you, but unconsciously you somehow finding yourself sitting behind that lady who was wrecklessly with her line and your worst fear came true. Pretty much the same for me. The thing that I fear the most, I ended up somehow gravitate toward it without knowing until it is too late. Only God knows it and prevents us from doing harm to ourselves.

Patricia Walkeredited: August 30, 2015 Fear is crippling. I lived in fear for years. I finally let it go, I read a book called Feel the fear and do it anyway.  i must confess that I also sought the advice of my local priest, who advised me also.  With this new found strength, I overcame this fear and have not allowed fear to control my life since. I continue to pray for guidance & strength each day!!! God is my guard and my guide!!

Debbie Bible I could write a book on fear. I can count 5 life changing fears of the past that have happened to me. My Father has carried me in every one. I can't imagine living through all that I have without Him!

Cheryl Hepler
Cheryl Hepler Wow, now that's a fish story.  Not about the biggest fish caught either. Praise God you were alright!  I understand the fear of something.  Fear of heights has been years now.  Not younger for I would buy tickets for several rides in a row. Just keep handing the ticket each time we stopped.  No more!  I do every now & then have a certain type of day where I feel stuck in thought on something and emotionally I spiral downward and then only to see time fly in the midst...which gets tome.  But I know what happened & it is a Let Go Let God day then.  Praying, reading scripture, writing some & just a lot of thinking. god seems to give you well rounded messages that hit the spot,  blessings Pastor!
