If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we haven't sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 John 1:8-10 WEB.So there I sat in my prayer room, feeling washed up and wondering why I was there at all that day. After going through a drawn-out messy divorce, I didn't go to church at all, and I rarely prayed. I felt the Lord was done with me. I had let Him down one too many times, and the whole church as well. Yep, "those days are finished," I thought.
I felt there might be hell in my future, but at least I was free from hell on Earth for a while. While thinking on this, I flipped open my Bible, and it fell on Romans 11:29: "For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." I pondered this a moment and thought, what if I haven't trashed God's plan for me?
I prayed about this over the next week and found that is how He felt. Sure, God hates divorce, yet He divorced Israel (Jeremiah 3:8). He's been there. The Lord was waiting on me to get up from my bed of self-condemnation, and I learned that I could be forgiven as well. We all fall, but not all get up and the church has become skilled at keeping you down after a divorce.
We all know that others can be forgiven, but we often don't see it for us when we stumble. So when you fall, get back up. God isn't angry with you, and He doesn't take back His gifts or calling when you stumble. His plan is still on for your life. You are the only one that can stop that. Just remember that forgiveness is for you as well.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please show me areas of my life where I need to accept Your forgiveness. Set me free from my past. Restore what the enemy has taken from me, Lord. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!Note: The FAAD group members (Fight Against Anxiety & Depression) today is"Feel Good Friday!". This event is about lifting up each other up! Amen!!! This is so so true!! I also went through a divorce but I kept my eyes on Jesus and just stayed in His word asking Him to guide me and show me what He wanted me to do. I was married for 22 years and had one child. I really thought that since they Lord has brought us together and was in our life that we would be married until one of us died, after all that was part of our Wedding vows, until death do we part. I did not want the divorce but I got it anyway. I stayed in the word and stayed posistive althought there was a lot that was not possitive in my life at that time. God got me throught those very difficult days and after I had been alone for 3 years I asked God to send me someone. He send me someone I had gone to Jr high and Highschool with. With have been together almost 19 years now and married for almost 10 years. God is good all the time!!
Praise God
Amen and Amen and Amen!!!
