  • Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6 WEB

God rewards those that diligently seek Him. The writer of Hebrews wrote these words and then spoke of Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Moses, Joseph and many more. These were people of faith, and the blessing of God was all over them. They each suffered many trials and faced fearful circumstances, but they all overcame because God rewards those who seek Him.

The good seeds that you plant, will always come up. We are living today, what we planted the year, or years, before, both the good seed, and the bad. Paul wrote, "Don't be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that will he also reap." (Galatians 6:7). There is always a harvest.

In my own life, I spent years heavily seeking God, attending Bible College, studying and listening to the Bible 24/7, fasting for weeks and giving all that I had. I was very zealous and Jesus was my passion. Then suddenly in one year's time, my business burned to the ground during an insurance lapse, my Dad passed away, and I went through a long, messy divorce. Much like Job, the life I knew disintegrated.

I had to start my life over with nothing at thirty-seven with my Dad gone, my business gone, and divorced. Worn out, depressed and tired, I quit going to church and for the first time in my life, stopped praying at all. But the blessing of God continued on my life. The seeds that I had planted long ago, were still coming up. I could share testimony after testimony where a total mess, turned out to be a great blessing in disguise, but I will just share one.

The day came when I needed a truck to haul things in. I had recently met Sylvia and she had a '96 Chevrolet Impala, white with a red pin stripe, tinted windows, 5.7L V8, 700R4 Transmission, 373 Rear end, Dual exhaust. I am sorry to bore you with all the drive train details, but:

    1) I was a mechanic.

    2) I want you to know how detailed God is in His blessings.

    3) I did not pray over any of this, or at all during this time and I had not attended church in years.

I thought to myself that it would be great to have a matching car and truck under the carport one day, a his and hers. I daydreamed that it would be nice if the truck was a short wheel base with an extended cab, had an aluminum toolbox, rails, a bed liner, and a frame hitch to pull heavy things with, and I had about 6k to spend on it. In short, that would take a miracle, but a man can dream. All of these were just desires and I was prepared to take whatever I could get.

The first car lot that I went to had a gray Chevy pickup about that year, without the extended cab. It was pretty plain and they were asking 11k for it, way out of my range. It looked like I would have to lower my expectations by a good bit.

The next lot that I went to, there sat a '97 Chevy Silverado fully loaded with the gauge package, air conditioning, electric seats, windows and doors, extended cab, short wheel base, white with a red pinstripe, tinted windows, 5.7L Vortec, 700R4 Transmission, 373 Rear end, dual exhaust, aluminum toolbox, chrome rails, bed liner, and frame hitch with towing package. They were asking $6,900. I offered them $5,900 but they refused, then I left them my number in case they changed their mind. They called me the following morning and accepted my offer.

As I write this, that truck sits under our carport. We have had it for eleven years now and He blessed me with it even when I was not seeking Him. The good seeds that you have planted will continue to come up in your life. Also when God blesses you, He is able to go above and beyond your wildest expectations. He does reward those that diligently seek Him.

You may face trials in your life, but it will pass, and you will overcome. Stay the course, keep the faith. When you fall down, get back up and take another step, it is not over yet. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Keep sowing those good seeds. What you have lost, can be replaced with better, and your best days are still in front of you.

Prayer: Father, thank You for being with me this day. Lord, help me to see through Your eyes. Give me grace, help me make the right decisions, fill my life with Your presence. Today I seek Your face, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Marisa Jackson Amen!!  What a wonderful way to start this glorious day!!  The Lord is always with us and your testimony is living proof.  We all have our testimonies which at the time is difficult but in the end, we are stronger and better for the trials that the Lord takes us through so that it is all for his Glory!!!  Thank you Heavenly Father for the gift of your Love, your Son Jesus my Savior! I want to take this moment to offer my prayers for the victims of yesterday's shooting in Roanoke Virginia.  4 lives are forever changed due to the senseless act of violence.  May Almighty God continue to cover the world with love and compassion; and I pray for families of the 3 lives lost Allison Parker, Adam Ward and Vester Flannagan II and for the continued recovery of Vicki Gardner.  Lord I ask that we all come together to pray for each other and to always look to you!  Amen!!  God Bless you all!!

Barbara Mango
Barbara Mango Life certainly has its trials and tribulations. Thank you Pastor Dion for sharing some of yours. Today I pray that God will be with all of us, helping us through difficult times, and being there for us all the time. Sometimes our faith is tested, and sometimes it can even grow weak, but just as Jesus was resurrected, our faith is born anew, because even through times when our faith is weak, God shows his infinite power of love and grace, and we know that there is a higher power helping us do all the things we need to do, and we always surpass what we thought we couldn't do. God makes possible things we thought were impossible.

Julie Schneider
Julie Schneider I think this is often the center of heated discussions!! Many people feel like the ugly things that happen to them are Punishment from God...reaping the sins they have sown. And if you ask for forgiveness, then do you still reap the results of your sins?! My family has always struggled with this.

Deleted Member Many times, I too, have dealt with this struggle, but I try to tell myself, that when satan tries to throw up my past mistakes to me, that Jesus has forgiven me and what He has forgiven, He has forgotten, never to be remembered anymore. He has thrown our sins into the sea of forgetfulness. Only satan brings up our pass, not Jesus. He only wants us to look to the future for the good things to come. I know sometimes, it feels like we are suffering for past mistakes, but Jesus isn't accusing us of anything, because it is covered blood of Jesus. Love you, Julie

Kay Rushin
Kay Rushin I feel life is simple, everything about God is Good (Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17.) This means to me the rest is because we are a fallen World. We make choices. Two paths to follow. Life to me is getting back to the Father. He gave us a way to do just that.

Carol Pady Amen!  Even when I was backslidden,  He always provided . I was always blessed with His provision. I suppose this is why I feel so bad about those times. I can't erase them or make up for them. At my worse He continued to show me He loved me. That is why I am so determined to take up my cross and follow Him now. I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back!

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield Thank you, Pastor Todd, for writing a devotion that I can happily share with my son, who is also a mecahnic by day and a computer repair guy at night! (or did I get that backwards?) For I too, struggled with job/career loss, divorce, and the distentegration of life as I had known it. My husband and I also had a fairly lucrative home-based pet business; Bob raided reptiles for pet stores and it saddened me to part with the lizards and sugar gliders that had become a part of the family as well. It's never easy starting over. But it makes us the people we are today, and I pray I am a positive influence on my kids! Thanks so much for today's devotional!

Debbie Thompson
Debbie Thompson Thank you Pastor Dion for that wonderful testIrmony. Wow! We ought to have a testimony segment! We all have testimonies, conversion, faith, struggle, difficult times, healing. I think we should just have a platform day to share. we are given these testimonies to tell others of Gods power by His grace. It's one of the tools of the Spirit.  Though divinely inspired, the Bible is multiple testimonies to Gods grace, provision, mercy, love, all for His glory. We all ought to share! Just like your daily msg. we never know through our testimony if we might not help someone else who is struggling. just a thought.

Sylvia Froese
Sylvia Froeseedited: August 27, 2015 God helped me with a newer car last March as well. I had smashed up my 2003 Pontiac Montana 3.4L van while I was driving distracted because of going through a messy divorce. For several years I drove a small 2003 Mazda Protege with a 1.6L engine in it. My 3 kids were getting bigger and the car was making lots of noise and I was afraid it would break down on the road. I didn't have any family to ask to look at it for me, so I started to ask men I knew and they either said flat out no or they just ignored my email requests to them. After feeling quite upset that everyone was ignoring me. I got really desparate and remembered a while ago that I had prayed a year prior that I had asked God for a newer car. I thought maybe it was too big of a request to pray for. I mean, how could I afford a newer car? I wasn't even sure if the bank would give me a loan since I had to pay for mortgage and a consolidated loan to pay for the extra mortgage payments so I could keep my house after the marriage was over. But then I felt that maybe the reason no one was even looking to help me fix my car was because it was time to dream bigger and pray for a newer car. So I prayed even harder for a newer car. I went to the bank and was surprised that they told me I could get a $18,000 loan for a newer car. They told me I was good with making my other payments and a good customer. So then I went about researching for a car. I didn't know what I could buy. I didn't know much about cars either. So I basically asked men that I knew and trusted, what I should get. They told me that I should research it even though I knew nothing about cars. I remembered how I used to look at Toyotas and think how expensive they were. I knew I needed a bigger car than what I had currently for my 3 growing kids. My oldest is 15 and he eats twice as much as me. I wanted to go camping with my kids and have enough room to pack things in the back and be able to pull a tent trailer that I borrow from my ex-husband. So I researched really long and hard. I learned a lot about cars and asked questions to men I knew. The women I asked didn't know much about cars so I stopped asking them. I felt really alone in doing all this research. I went to the Toyota dealership and saw some Toyotas that were really expensive, but I managed to find a nice looking good Toyota Venza that was just the right price and was also in better shape then the expensive ones. I remembered how I had told my friend I could never afford a Venza since they were really fancy and expensive. Well, God provided in a big way for me and he found a way for me to buy a Venza! It is the size of my old van and I really missed my old van a lot. I went to the dealership by myself to make the deal which was scary too. But I had a good ex-husband who even though he remarried 2 years ago, could see how stressed out I was about making the deal, he allowed me to call him 10 times that day to help me go through the steps of buying a new car. I was grateful for his help. I was grateful that God had also taught me to forgive him for leaving me for another woman so I could have his help when I had no one else to ask for help in making the car deal. Every time for months after that, I would walk into my 4 year old Venza and wonder in amazement how God provided for me and my family in such a big way. It is hard to ignore a big provision like that! I learned from this that you can pray BIG and God can provide in BIG ways more than you can ever imagine he will! After this, my ex-husband came and picked up my old Mazda and told me that all that was wrong with the car was that it needed a new alternator and belt. He came with a big trailer and picked up the Mazda. He is fixing it for our son to take driver's ed starting next month. I never thought I could ask my ex-husband for help. But God has proved that even people who hurt you deeply, you can have a different kind of relationship with. I won't say it was easy to get to this point with my ex-husband, but it is getting better than it used to be. God can help you in many ways you can't even imagine and if you let him, he will show you!

May Fletcher I love what you had to say about life is a marathon, not a sprint, and the best days are still in front of you. Recently i have looked to hurry life up a bit. And that is where i got stuck. Because God does everything in His own time. The marathon helps me to remember that God is always on time at each checkpoint and everywhere on the path. I thought at 46 my best days had gone. but God is not through with me yet and I must follow Him all the days of my life, because i love Him so much.  I dont know what you are supposed to write on this comment board, I really liked the devotion for today.. may
